Got a small buck bristled up on the decoy about to ram his ass but I think he chickened out on video tonight. Then one of the 3 does he started chasing drags his ass back to the decoy as she tried getting deke to chase her several times which I got on video as well. Friggin deer laid down all day long only to get up on their feet around 4:45. The sonsabitches! Lol
This buck is hanging with does that aren’t in cuz Hims doesn’t like to fight IMO. He bristled and postured for 5-10 minutes then walked off like a big wuss then after standing and eating 80 yards away it looked like he was sizing him up and trying to muster up enough confidence to go at it again. Just before he got halfway there this doe ran in between them with him in tow. Pretty miserable long 8 hours in the blind sitting on a bucket but this took alittle sting outta it. Plan worked to a T but not the right deer.

Ric asked if I could upload these videos for him and add them to his post. Very cool encounter.

I'm up and in behind the house until 10ish, then off to work. Perfect wind for this spot and between my middle daughter wanting me to hunt here, and the coin flip, here I sit. We're in the window of when we always see one random giant cruising through looking for the last hot doe. Last year is was one with a massive 12-14" droptine. Of course that won't happen today, but I've hunted here long enough to know anything is possible in this spot this time of year. Already seen one doe and have another deer walking through the bottom right now.

That comment about not seeing the droptine buck brought back some memories…thanksgiving day I looked out my backyard and saw a huge buck coming out of the bedding area and going to my pile(back then I had my pile closer to the house). I cursed myself for not being in the stand. The next thanksgiving is a repeat…another monster going to the pile and all I could do was watch. Well, the next three thanksgivings I’ve got my ass in that stand and guess what?…no big bucks! Murphys law!😂

Well, fuck me. A two year old just cost me a chance at a 140+ 10 point. Good call by Kenna! The young buck was eye level across the holler about 100 yards when the big buck jumped the neighbors fence and headed this way. At the Y in the trail that either brings him to me, or away from me, he broke away so I grunted. He postured up, but kept walking away so I snort wheezed. He stopped again, so I turned behind me and doe beleated once, then grunted twice. He turned my way and then the two-year old snorted and bounded off. That's all she wrote. He wasted no time in following suit. Better than a skunk!

Back out on my quest for a doe. With all the bucks running around, not sure what'll happen. They're probably all hiding. Wanted to try a late morning sit . Breezy & spitting snow ...

Ya gotta be careful killing a doe this time of year Kevin!! You don't want to get raped by that droptine buck while gutting her!!!
