Road scouted last night. Road scouted at 7am this morning. Deer were moving. Took Garrett this morning for the first half of the scouting, then we had donuts. Deer were moving last night and this morning pretty decent in the open fields along wood edges. I reported back to Garrett all the deer he didn't see. He was bummed. I kindly pointed out "I am NOT pushing you to hunt. It is your call. You want to laze around the house playing iPad or watching TV? That is okay. Doesn't bother me. Just won't kill you a deer."

Good luck guys! Looking forward to seeing some bloody arrows.

Had a doe (I think) blow at me up on the ridge behind me. Didn't think that would be an issue with the backdoor. Not sure if it seen me or smelled me. Wind was swirling here.

Right after had a 6 point come out of the thicket and walk by at 30 yards.

Had to leave right when it was getting good :(

Woods are on fire here. I have seen five different bucks and two does. Biggest buck was dogging and grunting hard. No shooters, but probably the best up close rut activity I have ever seen.

FINALLY saw some deer and signs of rut. At 10:30 stood up to stretch and start climbing down. A doe with a buck in tow came hauling the mail through the brush behind me. She was snorting and he was grunting. She finally shook him and he went back the direction they came from. Couldn't tell how big. Bumped another (possibly the same) buck on the way out near the feeder I just put in this week. He looked to be a little 6 or 8. I know where I'll be set up tonight!
