Didn't plan on hunting. Didn't set my alarm. Woke up at 419 and figured I should head out this morn. Like Hoyt, just enjoying the woods. If I shoot a buck it's s bonus.

I miss hunting as a kid...we should all be happy to take a nice deer.

Every deer I take is a nice deer. Every buck is a wall hanger, even the dinks. I get just as excited today in my 30s as I did when I was kid. I get just as pumped shooting does the same as bucks.

I've been out here since 6:30. Last night I drove by the cornfield I'm hunting next to now and saw 5 deer. That had me motivated to go this morning but haven't seen a thing yet.

Neighbors decided to shoot guns at 8:30 so I climbed down. Skunked! Probably be it for me until the gun opener. Hunting Monday morning for a couple hours, working the rest of the week and then taking a friend out Saturday morning and evening if needed. I may not even carry a gun Saturday. After that it will be all hunting in ground blinds overlooking corn the rest of the season. Still have a buck tag and will work on that and trying to get my daughter her first deer.
