I’ve used the word homoerotic here on this forum at least 6 times, now 7, and I’ve never even been to Strouds. Also, I’ve used the word homoerotic 7 times in my whole life. Now 8. Something’s afoot and it ain’t your unit @giles
Did you just hit on me?

I spoke with her dad last night. He has not heard from her yet. I also spoke with an investigator yesterday. I mentioned that I wished she had called. He has spoken with her and told me from what she was dealing with, he completely understood... I didn’t ask any more.

Years ago a 12 yo neighbor girl was helping my wife in the greenhouse we had at the time. She started telling my wife what was going on at home. Today I would call the cops, back then (~1990) we called our minister (we went to the same church). Dad should have gone to jail, but that didn’t happen. It became public but he kept his school job and retired with his pension and lives comfortably. The girl’s life has been an absolute train wreck.

The investigator did say her dad was not the problem so for his sake I wish she would call him. The day she left was his birthday. The last thing the man heard from her was a text saying happy birthday. No idea what she is leaving behind but it must have been a pretty rough road to leave everything she has ever known.

That's sad about the dad. Seems to be along with my original suspicion. Very overbearing and controlling mom who was probably pushing the relationship with the live in BF, marriage, grandbabies etc. Travis was dating a girl when he was 16 who's mom was like that. She was already planning the wedding in her head, wanted him to move in, etc. Some people live way too vicariously through their kids.

Madison Bell, a Highland County teen who went missing in May, spoke out on social media after her disappearance, saying it was her choice to leave.

Bell, 18, went missing after she told her mother she was leaving to go to a tanning salon on Sunday, May 17 and had not been since since. She was found on Saturday, May 23. She said on an Instagram Live video that she left with an outfit, an ID, her social security card and $50.

Bell said that she left her family and a live-in boyfriend to start a new life in another state. She was found with a man who was considered a person of interest in her disappearance. Her parents, she said, forced her into the relationship with her boyfriend.

“I did not want that relationship at all, it was forced. I remember I told my mom that when I’m 18, I’m not going to date him anymore,” she said.

She said she has not spoken with her mother since she left home.

“I kind of am afraid if they come find me but they can’t do anything because I am 18 – so, it was my choice to leave,” she said.

The high school cheerleader is from Greenfield, which is about 60 miles southeast of Dayton in Highland County.

There could have been much better ways to break up with her boyfriend and move out. Let's hope she didn't give a bunch of other kids ideas.

Not really if she felt trapped and bullied to participate in a relationship that her mother forced her for to be in for 4 years and allowed this guy to live in their house and sleep in the same bed with her. It's not like she could just move to her friends house across town and not have to deal with the shit from home that would obviously start. A note would have been good though.
