On the spitfire T-EZ in 250 gr. pushed by 100 grains of triple 7 powder out of my CVA Wolf. Took exactly 3 shots to get it zeroed today. Beats the hell out of chasing powerbelts all over paper and wondering if it was me, the gun, the bullet, etc. Hope to get the chance to see what it’ll do to a deer this year
that’s what I’m hoping forGoing to do some tinkering this summer based on the information here. The BB I shot yesterday @ 15 yards (double lung pass through) with 295gr. Power Belt left zero blood. I was fortunate to shoot it in the morning versus last light.
Barnes TMZ after a femur-guts-chest cavity-2 ribs and stopped in the skin. 70’ish yards, 2 triple 7 pellets.
Powerbelts are junk. Today was the last day we'll shoot Shockwaves in this house. Barnes TMZs for me going forward.
This was the blood trail using a 250 gr Shockwave today. They shoot pretty good from the cva wolf. Fugg powerbelts. Hit a doe square on the shoulder at 40 yards a few years ago and watched her run a mile to the next woods. Im guessing in disintegrated upon impact
Never killed anything with a ML, but the sabots I use in it employ the same bullet that Hornady uses in the 450BM Ammo (250gr FTX). That bullet killed a deer dead this year, without the deer taking a step. What's the backstory behind Hornady sabots?
Someone can correct me if my memory is wrong but I’m pretty sure the shockwave/SST are the same bullet made by hornady. Shockwave just has Thompson Center on the package. Known for flying real true and flat, not known for expansion or great holes. Same for the shotgun slugs. All the same projectile.

Powerbelts are garbage.
TC Shockwaves are garbage (they shoot okay, but rarely expand).
Barnes Expanders are the shizznit.

From photographs on the interwebs, it looks like it. Same approximate bullet, just different color ogives (plastic tip). Makes sense.
My dad and brother have had good success with the shockwaves. I don't like paying that price when I could tinker with other pistol bullets. I have a buddy shooting the barnes copper and they do well for him.
I was running 250 to in a mmp 3 petal ez sabot but was maxing the reliable velocity at 110gr triple7 powder. Under 10 yards I would get jacket separation. I switched to the 240 gr xtpmag which is rated for a higher velocity and also to blackthorn 209. Very happy with the results.

Not terribly inventive are they. Looks like Hornady has the same bullet technology in a half a dozen loads. I always thought that ammunition had come a long way since the Nosler Partition bullet, when I started hunting in 1985.

I can also say that the worst tumbling bullet I ever heard was from SST bullets. Twice I’ve been around people that have clipped something and it sent that bullet into a bad tumble for a long ways. “PZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzz”
I've never had problem with power belts. Only had to track one of 5 I killed and it was a standard blood trail, the others dropped on impact or only went a few yrds. Most accurate for me was tc sabot, can't remember the grain bit it shot real well
