My "Ace" in the hole and his hunt test career

Odd question zach but what kinda knot do you have for tying his lead to the clasp? Just got my para cord and clasps yesterday and tied a bowline but not a big fan. Was trying to figure out how else to tie it.

If its thin enough I toe a polymer.... if its to thick I heat the end of the parachord up and make a flanged end... then just do a one tie knot. And seat the flanged end in the center of the knot.. and thwy hold really well

That's somewhat how I tie mine. I don't know what the knot is called, but I tie it just like one end of a D-loop over a bowstring. Make sure to melt it good and make a large "flange" to seat against the knot and it won't go anywhere.

Alright cool I like the D loop idea, I thought the bowline knot would be nice but "knot" (haha pun intended) the biggest fan of it for this application that is.

Zach when you say one tie knot, what do you mean by that? Like tying a dress tie knot?

Put the string through the loop. And act like your tie ng the string in a knot. But instead of looping it twice. Just loop it once...

Pretend the end of the shoe string is melted and flanged out. So when u tighten it, it pulls up tight to the knot itself... normally one loop through won't hold... but with the added security from the flanged end, it gets tight as hell....

Yep I've got one line that too. Knot holds great.

Well this weekend capped aces JH career. It was a great weekend. Ace ran good clean tests all weekend. His obedience went out the window.... he was so jacked up it was like holding on to a bull while on the lead. The level of excitement they experience at these tests can't be duplicated. Its unbelievable.

Rutin stayed at my house this weekend and ran Mav also.... he and mav did phenomenal passing both days.... that dogs like a fucking thoroughbred.... he gets about 3 strides into his run and is gone..... he is a rocket ship... he had phenomenal marks as well this weekend. Great job Zach and Mav.

Then to top off the weekend we had 1.5 hours to hunt this morning and I was able to call in a gobbler first thing this morning before we left and Zach killed it.....

Awesome.weekend for sure

Def a weekend that we'll always remember. Had a blast running the boys and watching two VERY young dogs be super competitive was flat out awesome. Then to top it off with killing a nice Tom before our test Sunday morning was awesome! Cant thank you enough for the hospitality. I see many more tests in our future!

Well spent the last two days at a trainers in Maryland. On the way home now.... ace got thrown to the wolves the blast two days. He was training with the big dogs. Meaning, we were training with the dogs that ate master level, except we were not doing triples. We were doing just the doubles and the blinds. It was a rough two days with some hard marks and even harder bljnda for a 10 month old dog who just started doing blinds. Yesterday his second blind was about 200 yards. Consisted of a water entry, swim across pond exit on point. And swim across another pond with bumper on opposite bank just to the left of the little peninsula....

It was a bit much for him.... and I probably shouldn't have attempted it.... but we got him there.... it wasn't pretty....

Then we did channel blinds. Where he had to swim across small pond. Cross land. Then swim down the center of the channel to the bumper he didn't know was there.... he did very well with this.... and swam the channels flawlessly out and back.

I gained a lot of new knowledge that will help me train. I have hopes of running his first senior test soon.... so we will see how the next few weeks progress.....

Def very mature for his age. Sounds like you learned some really good concepts and some you shouldn't have let him attempt (creating issues down the road). Either way that's some flat out beautiful training grounds.

Well ace turned 11 months old yesterday.... I've been telling myself and some friends that I wanted to get aces first senior pass on him before he turned 1 y/o. Well today we ran a senior hunt test in Chardon.

I've said it once And I'll say it again.... I never thought running a dog would make me a nervous wreck.... but it does.... to the point of almost puking....

Ace ran a phenomenal test today.... with a few minor bumps in the road on water.... but nothing we were not able to overcome. So today ace completed his first SH test. I am one happy man....
