So at a time when the majority of our bears should be sleeping, an 81 year old lady was injured by one after it swatted her dog and eventually killed it... There was no black bear season this year due to our wonderful newly re-elected governor stopping the hunt... 4 more years of no more bear hunt is a disaster waiting to happen... Imagine bears in every woodlot in the most densely populated state... Wake up Murphy....

The kid that got killed and half eaten 4 years ago thought it was cool getting the bear on camera that was stalking him here in Jersey... He got pics, but never got to view them... When around bears respect them... If one has a wild hair up his ass your definately gonna be on the losing end...
Couple years back I went into check a camera just before dark... Took two five gallon buckets of donuts in... I was kneeling down fussing with the lock on the lockbox, when I got up and turned around there was a bear standing behind me about 12 ft. away never heard him... Problem was I had to go out that way... I tossed a bucket at him and he moved off... Had he wanted I was dinner....

J.... We are talking N.J.. Can't carry in New Jersey... It's illegal to carry a canister of bear spray... Anything over 3/4 oz. is a no no... 3/4 oz. is what a women carries on her key chain... But the bear group says the bears are the dolphins of the woods.. If you encounter one just jingle your keys and they will run ..

Possible loophole….you CAN hunt woodchucks with a rifle. I wouldn’t get caught with buckshot or slug in a shotgun outside of deer season.

I've really never carried anything, guess I never worried about it... But couple times I did have some giants on the bait I stuck 2 road flares in my back pocket... If I did carry the shotgun I'd just load it with #5 turkey loads... Close range in the face, yogi is done...

That was my thought Process, just something too up the odds in case of an encounter….
