Been nestled in a massive triple maple for about a half hour now, definitely over dressed. Wind seems to be coming from every direction. 42° and Spitting rain here and there, seems like a perfect mix for a buck deer to stroll by. It was a little longer hike in than I thought it was going to be, but 3/4 mile still isn’t too bad. Nice thing is if I do actually arrow one, there’s a two track leading most of the way here so the drag out with the four wheeler will be easy.

Back at camp. I saw two black squirrels and a hawk. My dad didn’t see anything. I’m very surprised at the lack of action between spitting snow now, pretty low temps and of course being November 1st. I’m for sure hunting the am, my dad is still undecided. We are heading home sometime tomorrow in the afternoon. Got the fire stoked up, drinking some ice cold beers and getting ready to fire up the black stone to finally eat our steaks. Having an awesome time with my dad despite the lack of killing.

Back home now and laying in a heated house and real bed, although I still think I’d trade it to sleep on a cot outside up north. Sat until about noon this morning and didn’t see anything, my dad slept in and didn’t hunt. Nothing had touched the huge community scrape since I had scraped it out last night on my way back to camp. Wish I would’ve had the chance to hang a cell cam over that scrape to keep an eye on it for my dad since he’ll be back up in a couple weeks for rifle opener.

All in all it was a great trip and I throughly enjoyed it. The lack of deer was slightly discouraging but definitely leaves me hungry for the next trip up there to beat the deer at their own game. I learned a lot just in a few days in the north woods, and it was definitely humbling. Had a great time spending time with my ole man around camp and scouting g and I can’t wait until he and I can go up again.

I’m attaching a few random pictures I don’t think i
Posted earlier in the thread, including some of the last remaining salmon in the creek 20 yds from camp, some snow and other scenery. Thanks for following along and the well wishes everyone!
