Official TOO Catch Thread

Tribs were tough today. The fish disappeared. Saw 3, caught one, a 28” hen for the smoker.

Got out for a couple days with Nate on LSC. Nonstop E winds and dirty water made it tough, but we found em. Nate’s first trip there, he’s hooked. Most fish were in 6-8’, water clarity didn’t seem to make a huge difference. Mostly 3-4 pounders with a couple just shy of 6#. Small swimbaits, jerkbaits and dropshots were the deal. Hoping to get one more trip up there before they spawn, but my schedule is packed tight til mid June. Couple eyes, shitheads and pike in the mix too.

Yesterday was the first time I have been on the water in several years. Hard to find better inland lake Saugeye fishing than we had yesterday. Two limits of quality fish casting for them by lunchtime. Biggest is 21", smallest kept was just under 17". We boated another dozen or so smaller Saugeye and some bonus jumbo panfish as well. We eating cheeks tonight. :)

Had a few hours to kill this morning before school stuff this afternoon. Tried all new water (which is impressive for me lol) that was within 10 minutes of home. River was dirtier than I’d like, but a handful of decent largemouth cooperated. Only truly note worthy fish was a 35” 25.65lb flathead I caught on a 2.5 square bill on 12# mono. Fuggar kicked my ass. Pics suck, didn’t think he was gonna fit in my net

12lb line will pretty much catch any nontoothy critter (and some toothy critters) you’ll run into. That’s all I’ve ever really used….

Glad to see you getting out…

10-12 mono and fluoro is my standard for most rigs and it seems to work well, just gotta cut a foot or two off occasionally dragging shit through the rocks (I don’t, I just break fish off instead 😂)

Only a few more weeks of a super sucky school schedule, then it’ll be back to a moderately sucky school schedule. I am beyond looking forward to it.
