Ohio 2013 Rut Report.

Thanks a lot guys!!!! I have the story in the recap thread and will post the pics with it later tonight. I think joining this forum must have brought me some good luck!!! What i thought was lung must have been a big artery in his leg that was spraying. Dont know what the stuff was that we thought was lung. Maybe the bolt did back out but i dont know what stopped it from going farther in. Maybe once the hides off i can see what happened. Thanks again!!!

Right after daylight on the way to work we saw a nice one following a doe. He was in stupid mode. He was nearly identical to that big match set I found last year. Perfect looking 10. This was down around minford area/wheelersburg.

View attachment 17429View attachment 17430View attachment 17431View attachment 17432Saw 5 bucks today all out cruising .Saw a nice one at 3 working a scrape and passed a descent 9 point at 4 that was cruising a big CRP field looking for does. Will sit all day the next couple of weeks as it should just start getting better.Had some pics on one of my cards of a buck working a scrape at 12:30 in the afternoon the other day.

Hunted all day with my Dad in Washington Co.. Great morning to hunt, but the deer didn't get the memo.. We saw nothing.. This evening I heard a buck coming through the woods late aprox 10 mins of shooting light left.. Never could see him but I could hear him grunting and chasing a doe but to thick to see. My Dad saw 4 does and one buck this evening.. Through his binos he could tell the Buck had 5 points on one side but could never make out how many points he had on the other. He went into some thick brush and he never saw him again.. We will be back out all day tomorrow, I will update tomorrow night.. Good Luck all.

CONGRATS GT!!!

been spotting a few small half assed scrapes, was surprised to see they weren't freshened up on sunday after all the wind and rain. The rubs have been small with no real pattern to them, just kinda random.

Seems to me it's getting going in a few areas, but for the most part it is still just not there yet. I gotta admit, I'm somewhat relieved. gives me a few more days to get my mind right and get back in the game.

hunted in p.a. this morning till 11:00, saw two adult does with one fawn each. no bucks seen. hunted ohio from 2:30 till dark, I saw 3 adult does with 3 fawns. had one 6 point walking and grunting come by with a button buck following him. right at last light had a spike walk under me. wife saw one deer that was to far to tell what it was and a injured 3 point. no chasing at all so far.

Decided with the rain and front coming in, to start my vacation frhday and hunt thru tuesday. The land owner is running cans, and all the movement is still nocturnal. Has pictures of a tall 10. Not real wide but dad says he would shoot him in a second so that means 140+...

Sunday: Saw a nice 10 point. Grunted him to within 50 yards. There were doe in the field. He didn't bother them at all.

Monday: Saw a 6 point and 4 point walking together. they butted heads a bit, but nothing real aggressive. The doe in the field were unmolested.

I guess the deer in my area didn't get the memo about the rut happening.

Saw a big 10 right next to the house on my way to work. Standin. With a doe. Then almost to work I saw2 bucks going at it and chasing a doe.
