Mallory killed her first ever turkey Saturday morning....with a crossbow to boot...and to top it off I videotaped the whole thing. Im proud of my little girl...who is only 9 and soon to be 10.

Awesome! Congrats to Mallory! And congrats to all the other TOOzers that scored.

Heard zero gobbling this morning kinda disappointing but called in a hen to 10 steps that was clucking and yelping up a storm at me.

Your hunting techniques ("roost hunting"), enjoyment for, and overall humor for turkey hunting makes me feel like your the kind of guy I would enjoy rolling birds with.... reminds me of when I used to live at home and hunt with some of my local friends.....I feel that we would have a blast surrounding black butterballs in the tree while they are still napping......don't know what county you live in but if your ever in the region of Summit/Stark give me a PM

I prefer cooler mornings. Turkeys talk when they want. Sometimes its sunny, sometimes its raining, sometimes its warm, sometimes its cold. Just go kill one!

What's the general thought on long beards being harder to kill when it's cold? Any truth to that?

I did notice that the toms were gobbling way less today, about 31 degrees this morning, compared to Monday and Tuesday, about 55 in the morning. Doesn't matter to me though I will still be out every second I can be

Meh. Each bird is different. Even birds in the same woods. You can go to one property off and on and never even hear a bird gobble. Then one day in maybe third week of season there will be three toms going nuts. They were there the whole time just never gobbled.

Some toms will courtesy gobble their nugget off but never commit. Alex and I hunted a bird one year that did that for a week. One day Alex and I were out there and you could hardly drag a gobble out of that bird, he had no interest in coming to a call. The next day Alex went back and that bird flew off the roost straight to him. Bird was gobbling like mad and came in with a death wish. From one day to the next they can change 1000%

I don't think weather plays a huge role. I think the availability and receptiveness of hens is what matters most.

Had what sounded like at least two gobblers coming right at me. Never caught a visual on them but they were getting real close. A hen intercepted them and I heard the gobbles go from getting closer to getting farther away.

Did see this though right after relocating and before popping up the blind.
