Definitely wait for the Wi-Fi model. Using mine today smoking a couple of pork loins. First time using it since last October. Super easy to set up and with the display, there is no guessing what the temp is inside, and it’s easy to adjust to another temp.
Do it, then spend the money on the new Meater due probe setup. The wi-fi units are nice, but it doesn't justify the extra expense in my opinion. I have the same unit you've posted (paid MSRP unfortunately) and it has 5 years of routine use without any issues. Definitely one of my best purchases over the years.
