After many wonderful cooks on a very basic entry level Z Grill pellet grill, I'm upgrading my pellet smoker. I really like using it and am ready to spend some coin on a better one. I've been saving up for one and it is time. I've done some pretty exhaustive research, and I have settled on the Traeger Ironwood XL. The main things I'm after now are a double wall/insulated barrel, easier to clean and maintain, and more precise temperature and smoke control. For me, pellet smoker is primarily a long cook smoker that I do some roasting and baking with. If I want to really sear something I'm lighting charcoal or cranking up the propane. Ace Hardware will assemble and deliver for free! Went and played with their floor model yesterday and I like the way it's put together and that it does not have a chimney. Lots of high-end features on this model that I want. Found a new home for my Z Grill, too which will help offset the cost of the upgrade.
