I think I'm due for a new daily carry knife. I currently carry a SOG sogzilla. It's done pretty well for me over the last 6-7 years but I just want something new. I prefer a folder style and have owned a few Kershaw, Benchmade, and Ontario in the past. I was really pleased with my Ontario folder, but it was fully serrated and I used my knife for things that serration isn't good. I actually found out that I prefer no serration on my pocket knifes.

I used to sell a lot of fixed blades at my old shop, but not many folders. So this is kinda out of my realm. I'm looking to try and stay under $150.

This is the Ontario knife that I have, they just don't offer it in a straight blade. I really really like the way it feels in my hand and I'm honestly thinking about reshaping the blade.

I'll also add that I'm the type of guy that is extremely rough on my daily carry. I've been known to pull it out and cut drywall, pound nails, cut shooting lanes, and then wipe it off to cut my steak.
 
I'm the same way with how I use my daily carry. I carry the SOG that has the seatbelt cutter and is partially serrated. Not sure the name of it.

From top to bottom ZT 0630, sypderco paramilitary 2, benchmade 940, and a benchmade griptillian.
I've owned a lot of modern locking folders in the $75 and above price range. These four are the only ones I've not sold or traded. If you are spending that much I would recommend buying something that has s30v or better blade steel. I would also encourage USA made but there are a lot of good foreign made knives in that price range.



I've recently started carrying a slip joint in my back left pocket and small fixed blade instead of a locking folder.
 
I'm carrying a Kershaw Cryo II right now. Had a buddy give it to me when he came down to hunt one year and it's been a great knife. I've carried a couple of Gerbers and keep a SOG in my truck. Like you guys, my pocket knives are more battle ax than precision instrument. That's why I like the Gerbers, cheap and replaceable. This Kershaw has kept a great edge and I like the assist open knives. My next carry will be another SOG.
 
I carry the Kershaw Scallian model. Matter of fact I have 3 different ones, serrated, non-serrated and the smaller model I carry for going out on the town or church knife I call it. I like the top open assist that's spring loaded.

That's the one, not the Chive.
 
I'm a big fan of the Benchmade grip. It's not the prettiest out there, but there's just something about the way it feels. For work I carry a Benchmade triage with the blunt/prying blade on it, and would not trade it for anything. Those Benchmade hooks are scary, I have not used a set of shears after getting it. Not much it won't go through even leather boots.

I've got a few hooks. They are designed for cutting boots off troops. They slice right through Kevlar and everything. I was going to try and use one as a gut hook, but I'm a little scared.

What's to scared be of? You're using it on yourself are you? Sorry I couldn't pass on that one.
I use a 2 bladed Buck folder with the gut hook for hunting. I've field dressed a elk and 10-12 deer with it. I wouldn't leave on a hunting trip without it. I also carry a small sharping steel in my backpack along with my Gerber knife that you can change blades on it.
But is off subject of a carry knife.
 
I am pretty hard on knives at work, I've found buying cheap ones works better than breaking expensive ones. If I'm not working I carry a buck 110 folder. A classic.

I usually end up gutting with my pocket knife, so it's sorta on the same page. Talk away! Who knows maybe I'll end up buying a new hunting knife? I like to use my pocket knife because I'm used to it, it seems a lot of the time it's dark when I'm gutting. I feel much safer using a tool that I use on a daily basis. Like it said above, for skinning I really like my Tracker knives. When it comes to the butchering, I like my Havalon barracuda filet knife and my Cutco filet knife.
