Today was a rough day. We met with a doctor about radiation, and another doctor about chemotherapy. We found out dad has a glioblastoma. Still awaiting further pathology lab results to find out what kind of glioblastoma it is. Not that it matters. Only thing it will change is the type of drugs they use to treat it. What I know about glioblastoma? It is scary shit. No cure. Treat the symptoms. Combat it with chemo and radiation. Average life expectancy isn't as long as we would like to see dad around for. We have a lot of living left to do. Dad has a lot of fight in him. Each patient handles it differently. What else do I know? The conversation with our kids tonight sucked. How do you tell your kids "We are optimistic. This is God's plan. Pawpaw is ready to fight."??? Then in the next sentences you tell them he could be here for months or he could be here for years. We really don't know. Yeah. That wasn't fun. We won't lie to them about it though. They are old enough to understand it. Although that doesn't make it easy.

This sucks Phil, went thru this (two different cancers, same results) with paternal grandfather and father and no easy way around it... Make everyday count for him but don't coddle him or patronize him as it'll show and you may not like the results.... Chemo back in the day was worse then the disease itself and wreaked havoc with the patient.... Lots of bad days during that treatment back then but hope they've made better strides with that stuff...
Stay strong and we're here for ya buddy....

Thank you for the input and kind words J.

They make the chemo sound not quite as bad as it used to be. Then they tell you the list of potential side effects. Sounds just as bad. Always comes down to "Every patient handles it different." Either way, long row to how.

I've been MIA, but am sending good energy your way Phil. Much love man.

I've had a couple aunts beat the odds lately and they are still going strong/bouncing back.

Stay positive and make everyday count. Be strong for everyone involved.

Been a long weekend with many thoughts running thru my mind. Reading these replies means a ton. Enough to bring some watery eyes to a man. Thank you all!
