And quite honestly those things in that style are close to $40 bucks on there own (for a good one) so the Kit is not a bad deal at all if the shipping doesnt get you. And you know..Hickory smells good but I bet plain wood smoker pellets would work....i like the hickory tho

I would stay away from the pellets and just buy the chips from Lowes, Home Depot, etc. Although, if you try the pellets, report back with the results.

Those tables are a pain in the ass...always fall out.

What he needs to do is to put a center-hinged metal piece, similar to a collapsible metal steamer basket, that sits as it should, but when flipped over to emptied doesn't come out...

The top looks better though!

Pics of the new lid tab and the table insert.

Looks like the kelly's Smoker that JD has.. Good switch.. Although the curled wire on the top doesn't stay cool like the tab did.. JDs gets rather hot. But it is stronger and lends better to prying when the lid gets gunked closed. But it does have a better spring in the bellows and I think the table works better. All in all good choice.

Yep, I keep wondering when I'm going to pull the tab off of mine.....just a matter of time I guess!!
