My boys named this buck “Camphouse Carl.”

Thanks again Brock!

Jon could be the poster child for the SS.

Of my boy's, he is the most disciplined. Jon starts to prepare for each hunt 1/2 sooner than anyone in the family and meticulously smokes up each article of clothing and all his equipment before every trip to the woods.

He gets my vote. Seems the discipline in prep is paying off nicely. Something to think about for all of us!

Congratulations again to Jon! He's a fortunate young man to have the Rex clan as a positive influence in life ... and he's becoming a heck of a hunter too!

Ok guys at the risk of sounding like a complete Moron here goes..

What all does the smoker come with? Does it come with the wood chips or do you just grab some sticks and bark off a nearby tree? How long does it smoke? How do you put it out? Im seriously thinking about getting one of these. I had never heard of it before I joined here and just seeing and reading about the deer yall see and harvest using this I am wanting to try it.. So please explain this thing a bit more in detail.

It is nothing more than a smoker a beekeeper uses to calm his hive before working them. It does not come with the wood chips to my knowledge but you can make your own or buy them in a bag at most stores like Meijers or Walmart etc....

To quote Joe from an earlier page in this thread(3 or 4 I think):

Any type of hardwood works, apple, cherry, oak, hickory etc. Nothing soft like pine or poplar. That's because wood smoke has antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. These properties are found in higher concentrations in hardwood smoke. It not only smell like smoke. But it also kills bacteria and microbes that cause odor.

Many of us smoke up our clothes in a blind, clothes hanging on a clothesline, through a hole drilled into the side of our storage tote,in our garage or while our hunting clothes are on near the back of our vehicle just before heading to the stand. As for putting it out, you can either let it burn out itself outside or just dump out the remaining contents onto nonburning surfaces like gravel, concrete or dirt and stomp it out and pour water on it. Make sure you take precautions so you don't start a fire!

Warning: Do not place behind your truck as some(many) have been known to back over them! Rotflmao

See for yourself what others have come to use as an important part of their regiment in hunting preparation.

Goodluck!

Oh, be sure to smoke everything, your bow, fanny packs, your hair and skin. Anything you take to your stand or blind including your stand or blind is a must. Just sayin'.

Visit ScentSmoker.com or PM Brock for more info and he'll hook you up.

Are the SS's taken along on your hunts ?

I took mine to the blind with the kids this weekend. We had deer all over us. Three people in one blind on the ground and at one point had double digit numbers of deer around us. No scent issues at all. The cool thing was as the SS was still smoking it gave me the wind direction, not that it really seemed to matter. The downwind deer never batted an eye.

BTW..my wife ran my smoker over with the golf cart after I called up to the house to have her bring the kids down. It still works, but has a little more character now.
