Sgt Fury’s 2020 NJ and Ohio deer season

Looks like no more fucking excuses. You have enough people to get him out flank steak by flank steak.

What you gonna do now punk?
Gotta see him to shoot him. Not even getting nighttime pics. Going to sit on the ground tomorrow at the rear of the property...I will have 188 hours in this blind at the end of today...I need a change of scenery at the very least. Don’t know what happened this season..ALL of the bucks seemed to go nocturnal mid October.

Many of our pics were just after dark or just before daylight

Maybe but it’s typical for him to disappear for a few days.

Hang in there.......

My thinking if he’s showing up an hour past dark or before daylight, he’s not bedded close. Could be a 1/4 to half mile away.

Time to get aggressive. Play the wind and get off your ass! Take that gun for a walk about. Glass, glass and glass some more. Do not skyline yourself. He will be on the point of a bench somewhere. Likely looking right at you when you spot him.

Sounds like The Ghost or Casper, the deer I've been chasing... Had him on camera back in Oct ,3 times then again twice in Nov... Always in football field size area... I'm thinking this is his home area and has left in search of does... Problem is this is a very low deer density area.... And it's an extremely large area... Yesterday was my 10th. sit without seeing a single deer.... I'm hoping sometime in late Dec. he comes back "home".... Problem is they shed early in this area.... So George we are kinda in the same boat....

Watch a couple Hunting Public shows and you will see they don't sit around hunting the same stands over and over wondering where the deer went. They go looking. I've always been guilty of the sit and wait, it's always been a good stand this time of year hunter. Walking with Allen and our latest hunts searching for current sign really reminds you that the deer can be nonexistent on this side of a ridge and using a new trail on the next ridge over.

Oh.... I'm not one to stay put, I'm always exploring and adapting... I've moved stands several times lugging them around, AND WITH NO QUAD... I know where my deer went.... He went for a walk about looking for does....And if there's snow on the ground for a week and you go for a walk you won't cut a single track....So what does that tell you???? My buck might be in Ohio getting some tail.....

Ok, the back of the property is about 200-250 yards away. I walked back there and the only two tracks I cut were from the two small bucks that were at my pile at 2:30am. Two days of snow on the ground and I’ve got more tracks in the field by my truck than in the woods. I did find a couple beds ontop of the next hill over between my stand and the back of the property....but I know they’re from the small bucks.
So, they aren’t bedding anywhere where they have to cross my property, so that means they’re bedding on the other side of the other neighbors property. (There’s around 200 acres of woods)
I think the problem is that my neighbor who is selling his property (64 acres to my left) now has permission from my other neighbor (34 acres to my right) to hunt there. He’s been baiting all summer. He’s got far more pics of the bucks we’re after because I can only bait when I’m here. He does put out bait for me a week before I arrive to get the deer used to it. Now of the deer are bedding on the 200 acres, they have to pass his bait before coming to mine. This is his first year hunting there. I do believe I’m getting cut off.
It’s still very strange that after going to his bait, they don’t continue west and cross my property...like I said, 2 days of snow on the ground and only tracks between my stand and the back of the property were from the two small bucks that came to my pile. I give up trying to figure out what’s happening, just going to put in my time then head home Sunday so I can hunt the Jersey opener on Monday.
