Well now that my deer season is over and the weather is crappy i am going to keep shooting to keep my form good so this is my new indoor range for my recurve shooting.
Through the foyer down the stairs to the targets in the basement.lol.
18 yds so should be good practice and dont have to freeze my butt off this winter until spring gets here.
My wife doesnt mind either she just says whatever works for ya.
Would like to get out and try and shoot some rabbits with the bow also if i can find a good place to go that has some rabbits.

When my buddy Paul moved to Alaska about 8 yrs ago he gave me his old Ben Pearson Cougar recurve he has had since the 70s so figured it was time to get a new string on it and start playing around with it some.
It is 62 inches long 48# @28. Will try and get it tuned and was wondering about where i should start my brace height at?Was thinking maybe 7.5 to 8.5 but not sure. Any suggestions Milo?
Going to shoot some tomorrow and see how it does and try and figure out what brace height it likes and then a buddy and i are going to take it and my widow and try some rabbit hunting with them saturday morning, should be fun.

that's a good looking old Cougar. I have one that I traded a pair of briar britches for when I was in high school. used to shoot fish with it.

since Milo is the Trad guru here, I don't want to step on his toes, but I'd say you are right on with your brace height estimation, but start low, work your way up. the lowest possible brace height that gives proper arrow flight and least amount of noise is best. bracing a bow too high robs it of cast and places undo stress on the limbs.

Rabbit hunting with bows is big fun with biggle dogs and snow. here's one from last February.

Finally got around to shooting the ben pearson and after shooting awhile i have the brace height set at 7.75 inches and i was impressed how well it shot.
These pics are at 15 yds once i got everything set correct.Should be a fun bow to play around with.

production bows from the 60's and 70's were made better than the crap you see today, hence the popularity of custom bows. good shooting. I haven't shot 50 arrows since Thanksgiving. shameful. having too much fun squirrel hunting.

Nice shooting Brian! I shot dad's old bow today. I may take it out before season's end. Mom bought it for him the first Christmas they were married - 1960.

Was a beautiful day out today and finally made some time to get out and shoot awhile.
Has been awhile with being so busy but once i got warmed up my 15 yd groups were real tight but 20 not so good just need to get back to shooting more.
Still felt good to get back at it.
