Joe, I figure you are the team captain......

What do you want for a team name? It makes no difference to me......I will throw this one out there

How about "Jackalopes Junkies"?

On a side note, I am kicking myself in the ass this morning...... I just realized I had made a prior commitment on Saturday evening. I had already purchased tickets to the fall Republican banquet here.....son of a bitch! Saturday morning is already shot in the ass with soccer and flag football games. Oh well, no big deal other than the fact I haven't missed an opening day in 22 years of bowhunting. Sunday looks like it is out of the picture also.

Gern, just go out and sit from 12-1, I would say that qualifies as a season opening hunt!

I might sit in the back yard for an hour at daylight.....:smiley_chinrub: There are a couple of bucks around there that like to visit my place at night and then leave right after daylight and head for the big woods.

I can't hunt Saturday either. We have kids soccer in the morning and I am taking the boys to a "bachelor party" at the KSU game in the afternoon and a cookout afterwards. My wife's friend is killing me this fall with her wedding plans. I need to find a sitter for the kids in a few weeks so I can hunt another Saturday because of the bachelorette party. The wedding, get this, is Oct 29th:smiley_depressive:. I don't mind though because I like them. November will be my time......

I finally was able to catch a landowner that owns a piece of ground in the area I usually hunt. He don't live around here and he is hard to get ahold of. There is solid corn on this farm and I hunt a fencerow in the middle of it. I killed a 150 inch 13pt here 3 yrs ago last time it was corn. Until now I haven't been excited for early season but its game on now! Heading there today to get a stand up.

Any of yall get out? I got home around 2pm sunday and it was too hot for my liking. After some reassurance of actions to take to keep the carcass cool, I'm ready to hit the stand. COME ON SNOW!!!!

I caught a bad cold from the kids. Hopefully it goes away so I can get out Thursday and Saturday. The 5 day has Saturday at 59 degrees for a high. I hope so.

I never made it out all weekend. Most guys around home only saw a doe or 2. I have good hope for my new stand on the fencerow in the cornfield.....large tracks were visible from the night before, and my stand is in a large oak that is dropping acorns right now.

Dang Gern, sounding good! Corns gonna b on for a while at this rate....

He come in shooting distance Joe?

Yeah, this cornfield will be on for a quite a while....if it is on during the 3rd week in October through halloween, something will die in there. I have great confidence in this spot. The corn is still very green, and the farmer is usually running a little behind on this property as well.

Yeah. He was behind the tree at about 15 yards on a trail.

The corn will be off by mid October around here if it quits raining where they can get in with the pickers. And ill welcome it.. Hunted another buck stand tonight and didn't see crap. Tank is holed up in a woodlot I don't habe permission on. Bit I have permission on all the properties surrounding it. I just need the dude that hunts it to get in there and blow them out.

I'm done with these stands for a while. it was worth a shot but I don't want to burn them out before the end of Oct. I'm gonna go hunt a doe property to occupy my time.

I got home last night and took a look at the radar to see how long it would be raining for. After seeing it would stop before shooting time was up, I decided to make my first sit of the year.

It rained from the time I got in the stand at 4:50pm until 6:10pm. The sun broke through the clouds and I had a good feeling they would be up and moving shortly (actually called my shot with a text message to my wife at 5:40pm. She asked if I was seeing anything, told her know, but got a good feeling going). At 6:23pm I double lunged a nice doe at 12yrds. She piled up about 60yrds away in the neighbors bean field. Thanks to they fellas on here, I decided I would quarter and get her in the cooler. Shot a 6:23pm, hanging by 7pm, and wrapped up on ice by 10pm.....even managed to kill a 6pack. We're on the board fellas:smiley_clap:
