Sounds like me a bit Adam. Couldn't find my cresting machine this week. I can't find my good hunting flashlight. For some reason my boots got a serious funk to them that I can't get to go away. I'll probably sound like LARPer trouncing through the woods...lol

LARPer lmao.

I swear I just had that light a few weeks ago because I had to take the trash out to the curb at 2am and I used that to go out with the trash. I know I brought it back into the house but I can't seem to find that sucker anywhere. My guess is my son has done something with it lol. He has a thing for killing my flashlights and tape measures playing around with them lol.

I need some new rubber boots. I took mine out of the shed yesterday and I don't know that I want to put my foot in there lmao. I will be wearing my hiking boots in the morning lol.

Stayed home this morning. I couldn't even see across the road this morning with the damn fog. Heading out around 10 this morning. That's when I was going to make my move over to the woods from the pasture anyway.

Well, day one is in the books. This morning Kate and I both took our bows to the stand. It was a quiet morning with no deer sightings. Did witness a couple squirrels fall 30ft out of a tree though. Pretty funny. Kinda wonder what they were smoking. LOL

Here is a pic from the morning hunt.

This evening we went to the groundblind, this time I left my bow at home. The neighbors were down from out of town and shooting pistols all evening. I seriously doubted we would see anything, but we decided to stick it out. At 7:25, we had a big doe and her two fawns come in at 10 yards. Kate got ready, but decided not to shoot since the doe had young ones. Good evening and a good end to the day.

That great you and Kate experienced opening day together! I didn't go tonight. I mowed, aerated and seeded the lawn so I can go tomorrow evening!

Great way to spend opening day right there. In the deer woods watching the world come to life and getting to share it with you wife. Cool deal bro.

Must have been a day to have neighbors show up shooting and fug up hunts lol. Had the same happen to me this evening. A couple kids across the river decided to start shooting tanzanite and blasted about 20 of those over a 30 minute span. Then they proceed to shoot handguns for about an hour. Oh yeah, it was 5 0'clock when they started this BS. No deer sightings for me today lol.

Try it again Sunday evening. See what shenanigans can screw me then lmao.

Must be something with the team this weekend. I was in the woods until around 11 and saw a few. Then I hear this aweful racket that sounded like a mix between a space ship on tv, tractor, and midevil beast. The noise got worse and I heard stuff flying through the woods.

Got down out of my stand to investigate. The farmer (our neighbor but we farm his land) decided to continue cleaning fence rows through the woods from where he left off last year. He was using a bobcat with a front mounted flail/brush hog style deck and lifting it way up in the air and chopping trees down with it....I love my hillbillies. Lol. Shit was flying everywhere.

Funny thing was he did the exact same thing opening weekend last year.

Didn't go out this morning due to the rain. The ground blind had deer around it all morning, but it would have been impossible to get to it without busting deer off the field. Gonna give the groundblind a try again this evening and see what happens.

No hunting for me this year most Sundays. I can go during the week some since I will be slower in the winter. With work and hunting I am going to keep a family day....most weeks.

well I guess if the local idiots can't screw me up on hunting my wife can. Our daughter plays fall softball on Sunday's where they play doubleheaders. I won't let my son go 30minutes from home and sit at a ball field from 8:30am until 2pm so I keep him home. She was told lastnight I was going to take off as soon as she got home today from the ballfield. Guess who is still not home to watch the boy. Fuggin BS.

I really don't know why I bother to donate tag money to the ODNR every year or spend money on hunting gear.

Its early buddy don't let it get ya down already! Plus it is early and warm!

With work and training on it's way where I have to be gone for 2-3 weeks at a time for over the next few months I am not going to have time to hunt. I need to get out there NOW although I don't know why because the locals fug up the deer movement every couple days anyway. The wife runs all over the damn place when SHE wants to and leaves the boy here who can't go with me hunting if I intend to shoot anything or want to stay more then an hour. Happens every year.

Here is a video of the 20th that was captured on the trail cam. This was in order for that evening. The big 8pt came in at 9:30pm that evening. Now you guys have seen these same deer on trail cam pics and videos all summer and they could care less about that cam being there. Now all of those deer have hit a stage in the year where a switch has been turned on and they run first ask questions second.

Add in the other locals blowing the shit out of Tanzanite targets and shooting pistols until dark, the mass of people walking all over the place, driving trucks/quads all over it's no wonder not many deer are killed out there every year.

That stinks Adam, but keep your head up. You have plenty of time. Kate and I are sitting in the groundblind for round two.

Hung a stand this afternoon to see if I can cut off Claw or STT in the mornings. I had pics of Claw on two different cams last night, so it gave me a pretty good idea of what he got into last night. He was back and forth on the one cam. Came out at 8:45 last night and ran around, then at 5am crossed in front of the camera again headed back towards where he came from at 8:45.

I will be hunting the pasture this evening if I can get out. I have to go check the woods cam this morning and swap cards like I was going to do Saturday but put off until Sunday and didn't get it done then either lol. I hope the rain clears for an evening hunt. I have a feeling this fall is going to be just like our spring, wet and muddy. Good luck fellas, I'll keep you all posted.
