The Official Camper and Camping Thread

Yeah i enjoy it just get bored easily. My daughter will be three and more active so she will keep me busy. Our old one was was an 01 cedar creek and his is an 01 holiday rambler alumascape he has absolutely babied. My old one had a small nagging leak so I was happy to unload it.

Very nice!! I've got a few repairs I need to make on our trailer. Top vent over the fridge is broken off and temporarily fixed for now.
 
I need to sell my quad…you guys are killing me! I really really enjoy the "camping" life. Non of your guys mentioned corn hole! I don't need much out of a camper…dry, sleep 6+, and have AC.
 
I'm deep in replacing the back half of the floor in mine. I have used it once this year before digging into it, not a new problem, just time to fix it.

John, lets see some pictures. I always like to see the structure of different campers if you happened to capture your work.
 
Only have a few pictures. My current camper is an ultra light, so all aluminum support minus 2 steel I beams. The flooring is foam core, 1/8" with 1.75 foam and another 1/8" glued together.

There are 2 leaks both in the back ,so it's a pain in the ass. With a rear bath and bunks. One leak was from a loose fitting for the outside shower, the other I believe is a outside seam.
The plan is to get it all dried out and sandwich with a new over lay glued on top. I was lucky in the fact that most of the worst rot is under cabinets. The camper is 9 years old so a fix like this will hopfully get me another 8/10 years and by then I won't care, it will be time for new.uploadfromtaptalk1429727618205.jpguploadfromtaptalk1429727658159.jpguploadfromtaptalk1429727686197.jpg
 
Thanks for sharing John! So you're saying it's 1/8" plywood sandwich with foam middle? What was the first indicator you saw that you had a leak and when? What's the dryer vent for?
 
Yes, 1/8" plywood. And of course you can't buy the shit the floor is made of. Just like anything else, they are designed to be throw away. The dryer vent is the far heat duct going into the bathroom.

About two years ago I could start to see a small difference in linoleum color. Last year you could feel the floor was a little more bouncy. This year was spongy in the bathroom. To be honest I was in no hurry as I knew it was there, but in reality it's not like there was wood joists that were going to let go. It prolly would ha e been easier if I jumped on it right away but was lazy. Now it's to the point that it has to be done.

Completely understand, glad to know it was not a total surprise. It's amazing how fast water does damage!

Availability of that floor is what was running through my head when you started explaining. What are you thinking to make up the 2" height? Please take pictures as you cut that out, I'm curious to see underneath. Is the bottom section of the floor coated and covered by an underbelly, or once the floor is out, you see ground?
 
On the downward spiral, finally on the put back together phase. After chasing down all the leaks, some plumbing and outside seams. After cleaning out the old seam seal, cleaning and new on the whole damn thing.
We over laid the old with 1/4 plywood and subfloor glue and some 16 guage sheet metal on the worst spot.

I was reminded that this needs to be done by 2nd week of june, with plans to be in the smokies. uploadfromtaptalk1431911271465.jpg

Heck ya John! Floor looks good, nice work guys. How much heavier would u say the trailer will be compared to OEM? More pictures please!
 
Flooring looks great. Gives me an idea for our trailer if I have leftovers from doing the floor in the laundry out to the kitchen. We have a small portion in the trailer that is carpeted and after a couple deer seasons and dang dogs it's in need of being replaced with something.

I would guess only 200#s give or take, hell it might be what it was before after getting all the water dried out of there..lol uploadfromtaptalk1431958888503.jpg

We ripped the carpet out from around the bed also, carpet in campers if fuggn dumb!

It's not the easiest to get out, you will ha e to cut it out from under the walls, as it is laid down before the walls are set.
 
That looks really nice. Thanks for sharing. Gives people hope as I think most people sell them and take a beating if they leak. Or. . . take it to a dealer and take a beating on the repairs.

Hope you enjoy yourselves John. Looking like late summer at the earliest to use ours this year. . . IF we get it on the road. aargh
 
My wife and are a talking about a camper for next year. Trying to wrap my head around it and what I can get for my $. We both enjoy being outside and look forward to being a camping family.
