Well, I got close.... 30-40' behind me on the other side of the crick.... Wouldn't come across and I stayed there until a train came by @ 6:15.... He's starting too tick me off!!!!! He was there again with the doe and neither wanted too cross and the wind was coming from their side so they had no idea I was there.... You could here him grunting and her moving around...... Close but no cigar!!!!! Frustrating too say the least.... Almost ready too drop her so he'll go cruising again..... lol....

Another deerless day in Highland county!! After this morning hunt of not seeing, hearing or smelling deer in the woods for like the 4th time in a row, I got down and did some inspection. I only cut a couple set of deer tracks in the entire 20 acre woods. Glad the ODNR told me there are too many though, I would have never guessed it otherwise. Did have one come in limping right at dusk, but too dark to see much other then it was limping. Not good. I also saw a coyote, an Orange cat and a flock of turkey. Called the turkeys right in, a great show!! Back at it this weekend.

Entirely too many deer here. :). I hear people crying about it nearly every day @ the shop. I don't know why they look at me funny when I say " Quit shooting does". Seems the DoW has given them the impression hunting is more fun after you've killed them all.

I wish Tonk could have been hunting with me every day this season. It would be a real eye opener for him. I would willing to venture he's never stepped foot on Highland county soil, let a lone have any real clue what is going on here other then what his useless graphs tell him. Oh well different topic, just makes me want to try harder. If I get a buck Ill send him a picture with a return envelope so he can autograph it and send it back to me.

I'm looking forward to hitting it tomorrow morning after not hunting at all today. Just 'christened' the new scent smoker. Got a 'good feeling' again. Thanks Brock

Changing things up a bit. Hoping it pays off

Good luck Gordo. I am not going to be out today. Gotta help my wife with her daycare until about noon.

Got in a different section this morning too let the other cool off as I wasn't seeing much out of it on the mornings lately....

Went too the back stand and got settled in and took a little siesta lol.... Train came by about day break and I scan the swamp in front of me and see three good size doe heading my way about 150 yards and too my left.... Get situated and decide too take the second doe as she's the biggest of he three if she offered a shot....

They make their way and veer off about 40 yards in front and too the left.... Walk out into the swamp and in front of the red brush thicket in front of me.... Dang now where they headed???? Well they walk out in front and cut in too an opening I use too come in on.... Alls well of they continue on I'll have a broadside shot at 20 yards as they pass too my right.... Just gotta adjust ever so slightly and get into position..... CREEEEK..... Damn they stop in their tracks look all around and freeze for the next 10 minutes.... No shot available.... Turn around and walk away the opposite direction.....

Oh well we'll see what happens next..... Well that didn't take long.... Hail for the next 20 minutes then steady rain after that.... 20% my backside!!!! So here I sit chowing down on a southwestern omelet at the dining room table hahaha..... Really looking forward too gun season for a little revenge.... lol....
