The TOO Live Hunt and Recap Thread: 2013 Edition

I agree with Aaron, Phil, you are getting this deer patterned and sound as though you've got a pretty good plan of attack set up! Good luck and I hope it pans out for you!

Mike, deer hunting can be VERY frustrating and I know you along with several others are in the same boat. Hope you can get out some with your shotgun but just keep trying with your bow till then. This week the big boys have to be moving more! Just got to hope you pick the right treestand.

Aaron, that's a great looking buck! Hope you get a crack at him or the other one!

Good luck to everyone heading out this week!

:) :) :) Just in time for gun season! There is nothing as "freeing" as the feeling of taking a fully loaded semi-auto into a bedding area to have a look around. Waiting for months for a deer to come to you gets a little trying... walk up on 'em and shoot 'em! Sorta makes you realize what a waste of time hunting with a bow can really be. :)

God Bless you.

thanksgiving is in pittsburgh this year and I'm leaving work at noon tomorrow headed straight that way. Was debating bout stopping in zanesville to do some hunting thinking deer are going to be moving after this storm. 16mph winds dropping to 10 by sundown, I'm thinking it's gonna be a good evening for a sit.

Snow Day!! School Closed!!! Getting the kids organized here at the house, putting Kody in charge, and going to try to head out for a few hours and catch that 10:00 rush hour in the woods.

Love a bonus day with the kids like that!! Good luck to you guys!

Was in tree at 614. Deer moved thru at 640. Not sure if it was the one I was after but it tore up a tree like a heavyweight contender. Nothing but squirrels and birds since sunrise.

Saw a doe with 2 yearlings. 100yds off heading to corn. Probably 15 min ago. Might be time to slide out and get some work done soon.

I did some walking. I'm soaked to the bone from sweat and a wintry mix. Came home, threw the clothes in the wash, re-smoke later. I'll be heading out this evening after I make a snowman with my little girl.

Oh, by the way... I covered some ground and only cut one set of fresh tracks. Unreal...

Had a basket 8 and a doe come in around 3:30.
Then a 130" 9 point (130 tops) that my trigger finger got real itchy on, but let him go. There's bigger there. Probably won't see them, but they're there.

Atta boy Mike. I applaud your resistance lol. I didn't see a deer tonight.

Sorry to laugh at your post, but that is a funny line. Why? No clue. Guess it is easier to laugh at our depressing deer herd than to cry about it. Way to resist Mike. Not easy to do within a week of gun season when you know very soon the deer are all going to be scrambled.

Thanks guys. Going to try to hunt the next two mornings. Was up at 4am today and still going. 4am alarm tomorrow is going to be rough. My lovely bride said I should go hunt Thursday morning since her family won't be over until the afternoon. I would hate to disappoint her. I think I will shoot any deer in front of me in order to have the excuse "I need to butcher this deer" while her family is over. Is that wrong? lmao

In regards to being close? There are times I feel I am close and times I feel I am just starting to cross the ocean and I am using an inflatable raft with one oar. ha Thankfully, this morning felt close. Been plenty of days I was going in blind, hunting the conservative stand with little chance of being winded, and simply hoping to get lucky. I am sure we have all been there.

Mmmm. . . .winds out of NW at 12mph this morning. Might have to rethink things a bit. Rut dwindling if not paused at the moment (in my area). Need to play it safe. Just might try for a doe this morning.
