Too bad I won't qualify. 9.5yrs but most of it was in the guard unit. Basic and AIT you are considered active duty. The rest is on Ohio. VA considers me as non-Veteran.

I don't feel they "owe me" anything. You guys deserve the medical stuff. Just saying, sometimes it would be nice to know there is an option to go to the VA. All good. Still have the military insignia on my driver's license and have received plenty of discounts. Probably more than I was ever paid in the guard. 🤣

@hickslawns I suggest you take your military med record(I hope you kept a copy!) to your county VSO and ask them to review it.

The VSO will submit a couple forms of any based on your records. Anything they, VA, put as service connected you can get heath care for. That's the starting point.... best of luck.

Most Guard and Reserve time applies, AD or title.10 time applies.

If you were a perfect physical specimen then you will get zip. But that's what the VSO's are hired to figure out.

The Va in Guernsey county is outsourcing to other businesses, so we don’t have to travel 2.5 hours away and it seemed like audiology was only able to be there 1 day which was a huge pita

The entire fucking system is a huge pain in the dick. That's why, if you notice, most guys don't use it until they retire and have the time to make it worth it. If you need results, try welfare. That system seems to be a finely tuned machine that never runs out of funds. Hell of a lifestyle for some.

Went in back in August to find out I qualify for hearing aids. Hem hawed around on if I was going to pull the trigger or not. Finally decided that it was time. Especially after reading the benefits others are seeing. Requested an appointment Tuesday. They called and said since it was over 6 months I would need a new test. They scheduled me for this morning. Went in and Audiologist said that they are using my previous test and get hearing aids ordered. Scheduled me to come back April 4th to pick them up.

Been a long run…I tried to make it last. I’ve had my hearing aids for I believe around 7 years. The right side of hearing aid broke last week. All the sounds I’m hearing coming from my left side of ear. Holy fuck. All that sound at the same time. Since I don’t have anything to hear with for My right side of ear, it has been ringing nonstop like a motherfucker. Been trying to contact the local hearing aid place but found out they moved. So, I’m going to go ahead ordered pair of new ones.

I just pretend the locusts in my ears are women talking, so I ignore them. It works way better than ear drops!

Seriously though anyone have any luck with accu puncture? My wife's nail place has a cousin that does accupuncture.

@MoonLab is there anything to stop it? Can you put an ear plug in or something? Or do the hearing aids reduce the ringing somehow? Not sure if your situation is different than those of us losing hearing and increasing tinnitus over a longer time period?

For those of you sporting hearing aids, do they normally cut in and out when around the microwave? Occasionally do it also around a vacuum cleaner.

No not unless I put the hearing aid back on and it’ll go back to normal. Tried to make an appointment but looks book for another month. Yikes .

I can hear pretty good until I get into someplace with alot of other noises like a restaurant. Then I have a heck of a time hearing. I hate to get them, but I think I am headed towards hearing aids. Not even sure how to go about getting them.

Scheduling a audiologists appointment is the start. They’ll do the hearing test and it’ll progress from there.

Bummer moonlab. If you've never had them, a month probably wouldn't make much difference. Kind of surprised they couldn't get you in quicker.
