I was in the stand an hour before sunrise and decided I had enough at 1:30. I swear deer transform into squirrels and check the place out first. Be back playing with the tree rats in the morning lol.

Saw a doe and two yearlings at the new property. Missed the doe at 24 yds. Shot right under her. Don't know what the deal is. This is my second chip shot that I have missed this season so far. I gotta do something to get this monkey off my back. :smiley_armscrossed:

Getting ready to take the wife out to another our skinny property.

At least you missed and didn't shoot her in the ass. I've heart od guys doing that before.

Got skunked tonight. Sat in freezing rain for 20 min followd by 70 min of hard rain (that sucked). That all cleared out at 4:45. Seemed perfect for them to get on their feet and move. Oh well, back out in the morning.

The wife and I made it out to the skinny property. We kicked up three does on our way in. Saw two other does through the evening. Amazingly still out tonight hardly any wind at all. Planning on going back to the new property tomorrow morning. Going to take Austin if he decides to get out of bed.

I saw a few bucks yesterday morn but nothing I'm looking for. Jeff (Fred Bears grandson) killed a 130 inch 10 point last night. He had been hunting with me since tuesday night and he kills one the last night he was gonna be here. The buck was running all over this farm that day and at 6:30 last night he walked down the wrong trail. He was happy with it and at least he got one to take back home with em... I went 2-2 in a weeks time setting people up. No more of that the rest of the year, it's my turn....

Lots of wildlife for me this morning: turkey, squirle, asortment of birds and deer. Had a small buck nose to the ground cruze through at 65 yards out. Then about an hour later had 6 doe come through 45 yards out. Saw 2 more doe on the way out of the woods.

So after hunting the last 5 days, my stats are as follows:

Number of hunts: 15
Total hours: 72.25
Avg length of hunt: 4.82
Number of doe: 32
Number of bucks: 14
Avg deer per hunt: 2.3
Avg deer per hour: .48

I won't be out again till Thursday. Good luck to those that get out.

Got out late tonight at my buddy's new place. We both had easy/quiet access to two stands there. This is an area he snagged a limb shooting at a big boy this week. I was in the stand he missed from, and he was in a stand hung today. He watched 2 grey fox playing and a small six pointer moved through. I saw the first fox and drew on it thinking it was a small yote at first. Realized grey fox and let down, turned on the camera and had fun lip squeaking them back in. Pretty neat to watch. The one actually started up a tree nearly 10ft and then back down. Never seen that in the wild. Heck, never seen any greys in the wild, just red fox. Made for a good night even though I saw no deer.

This is my first post on this log. Just to play alittle catch up, I've had only two shooters in close so far this season and hunting mostly mornings with a few weekend evening hunts the last 3 weeks. The first shooter was a beauty of a 10 in the 150's at 20 yds. but he just didn't give me a clear shot, but I was drawn up on him( this happened Fri.10/29 @ 0934). The other shooter was last night(11/6@6:00), he was slipping down the same trail the other shooter came down. I prolly shouldn't have hunted this set but WTF, it's a great set if the fuggin' deer would use the many trails in front of me on my UPWIND side! If I set up from the DW side of the furthest trail, I'd be standing in the fuggin' creek or on the neigboring prop. The thermals busted busted me last night as like most mature bucks like to stay low in the drainages when there going from one area to the other and unfortunately this was the case last night. He was coming my way at approx. 50 to 60 yds. out and blew, stomped and busted out of there! Don't think it was the same 10 because he had a diff. rack but he looked to be another OBB contender! Thats 2 nice ones so hopefully the 3rd times a charm. I have seen many 1.5 yr. old bucks out cruising and a few bb's and does. Most of my sightings have been ironically the LATE mornings between 9 and 11. My vacation starts Wed. and I will be headed back SE Ohio( where I grew up) to hunt with my bro and friends. I'll have till Sun. evening to get it done then it's back to work and hunting a few mornings till the gun opener. I will be going out tomorrow AM to the same area I've been hunting and hopefully the fuggin' bucks I'm after will come down the RIGHT trail. Goodluck all, and be safe! Ric

This is the setup I will be spending the majority of my time in this week... smaller woodlot surrounded by corn on all sides. Found a travel path they are using through the woods with lots of sign.
