I know that course! I'll never forget seeing a doe wade through that marshy stuff just N of there driving back to Kent one time. Always loved that little area in there.

I'm just out to be out today. We'll be lucky to kill more than time. I'd never get up and deer hunt based on the scouting report I had yesterday. Probably just the novelty of still being a rookie. We are headed to a new spot on the river today, so who knows.

Had to pull a quickie hunt cause the wifey had plans today . Carl and i each killed our black duck ..luckily mine had a funny shiny thing on its leg ? . Lol . Boy were the geese flying like crazy . Unfortunately I didn't have time to set up on them . I'll take a banded duck over a pile of dead geese any day tho .

This beauty floated right down the river to my buddy. Lone drake just begging to be water swatted. I killed this golden eye hen tonight. No drake with her unfortunately.

Nice bling Jake! Trophy bird for sure.

And heck of a nice bull can Marcus!

I pulled a "Jesse" this afternoon (no offense Jesse!). Went to jump a ditch that cuts through the field, when something caught my foot as I launched for the opposite bank. Next thing I see is my face in the water & I'm soaked clear through from my head to my toes & everything on between. And fuggin cold!!!

Left John & Huck to set up while I ran home to change. Made it back with dry underwear to kill our limit of geese.

We hunted the fields today and shot a 3 man limit of sky carp. This was the first time all year we laid out for geese. I had forgotten how much fun it is! We didn't realize we forgot one goose for the pics until we picked up the last shell decoy. The other pic is my buddy posing with the "fan tail" LOL!

Cool video Sean! What is their to hate about the north zone this year? Seems like its been stellar to me. I think the dates were absolutely perfect.

We've had some birds, but moving the N zone / S Zone line a few years ago put the area I hunt into the N Zone. The old line would have still had me hunting ducks. I have the same complain every year. Lol. See above video...

I've had my heart broke more in one season of waterfowling when it comes to being denied permission than I have my entire deer hunting career. I watched over 100 mallards work hard tonight to pick spots out in this field thanks to 400 geese. I've been playing games for 2 weeks trying to get permission here. Right now I have $ on the table, I've offered to notify local PD before every hunt since its in a sensitive area, and I'll personally notify every owned in ear shot that we'll be hunting there. Nothing. Its killing me!

I've driven 1,200 miles since 12/14 scouting and have knocked on a dozen doors. Still don't have a field to hunt.

Yeah, Sean. Don't you know? Thou shall not question the DNR. :smiley_coolpeace:

Lol.

All in all I think the season dates were the best this year than they've ever been. When it comes to zone boundaries... There just ain't a whole lot you can do. Put it here and piss off these guys, put it there and piss off those guys. No matter what, somebody will always find a buttload of birds working just on the other side of the boundary. It is what it is. IMO there are a lot more areas that benefited from moving the north zone boundary than areas that suffered.

I agree jimbo. Even with a relatively early freeze it still worked out well . If we'd of had a winter similar to the last few things would have been different to . Every yr after duck goes out I end up having a few goose hunts where I'm covered up with ducks and can't shoot em . Its just about come to be expected. No matter where the boundaries are someone is getting hosed . But I think the dates are pretty good now . Wouldn't hurt my feelings if we ditched our Oct dates altogether and added a week on each end of our existing late season dates .
