Dad was buying 2wd reg cab F150 XLT for $10-15k in the 90s. Today you can barely find a truck in such combination. If you do, they are work truck package and $32-38k. Roughly triple. Suppose the $45-60k prices will triple in the next 25-30 years?

Sorry, I forgot to mention this awhile back. I recently bought a new truck this past February from the Chevy dealership in Dayton. 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4X4 Z71 0ffroad. Was 23,700 miles on it when I bought it.
Looks like GM will be the first to break the 500 hp mark on the HD truck market. Crazy tines we live in.

My 01 f250 sd exceeds that in it's current configuration, and has since I installed both the K&N RAM Air system, plus my 4 stage Power Edge system and nothing else.
I currently have 4 different Edge programs configured and can switch whenever I see fit.
1- towing 200+ more ft/lbs to rear wheels 2- performance 100+ more HP 3- Extreme 200+ HP w/ Short Shift 4- Regular Stock
I normally have the Edge set for #2 about 90% of the time today.
In #3 Extreme, even with my truck loaded with tools, it goes 0 to 60 in 5.5 seconds without burning rubber.
The Edge system has real time performance recording features of all critical systems and/or components.
It will also record 1/4 mile runs if you'd like.
My truck is a sleeper and have yet to loose a street race with it, no shit!
That's why I still maintain it today.
Denny, the 7.3 is known for a lot of things. And it is a great motor for a lot of things. Speed ain't one of them. Don't underestimate these new trucks. Next time you are in town and have some time, take one for a spin. They are impressive! Add the same mods you have on yours and they are flat dangerous. Lol
Fasted recording was is 135 mph. The last recording 125 mph when I completed maintenance about month ago. Again, it's recorded into the Edge system still.
IDK about you, but that's fuggin fast for a 20 year old diesel, especially with a topper w/ ladder rack and side mirrors hanging out the sides, but it's the quick pick me up torque that makes even appear faster.
Fug those outragously priced trucks today. Not impressed at all. I'll build me one first for the kind money they're asking for them junk things.

I can appreciate what Denny is saying but I can appreciate what Dave is saying too. I'll stick with what I've got, but some of those new trucks are very impressive if they can avoid the shop. Stupid computers and emissions crap puts the big trucks in the dealerships often. Not sure about the pick ups. Hopefully not often.
You both have very solid platforms in the diesel trucks. But you just can't compare them to these new trucks. There's a reason they are double the money these days. They ain't the same, lol.
