We were late getting to the party. Yesterday’s midday warm up really had the muskrats moving. So we went in the afternoon and set 8 traps in this little spring fed marsh… 6 carrot-baited body grips, 2 body grips in runs, and the a colony trap in a main run. The cold that moved in last night kind of shut them down but we still managed 3 nice rats on our check this morning. She made about an inch of ice just last night.
I will go down and look here in a bit, but I think I would see a catch circle in the background if one was in a trap. Be easy to spot with the fresh snow.
Empty again. Did have one on cam. View attachment 217063

Check to make sure your traps aren’t getting cleaned out by mice. They can strip all the bait from a dog proof trap without it ever firing. If they are, put a golf ball on top of the trap… mice can’t move it but obviously raccoons can. And there’s a visual attraction for the raccoon as well.
