What happens to the gars? Do people eat them?

Back home in Mississippi the only people I ever saw who would eat them were old colored people. They have tons of fine bones so they would make cakes out of them and fry it. There was a chicken and fish place in the black part of town that I would sell them to, or just go to Marcus bottom and sell them out of my truck.

We are cleaning all the gar. They are great to eat actually . They don't have any bones and the the meat is mild and white. Its got a lot firmer texture than most fish. Last night we shot 3 gator gar, blue cats, redfish, saltwater sheephead, black drum, grass carp, common carp , and buffalo. Also missed about a 4' shark that came blowing thru at mach 10.

And then he sent this to me today...

"Great nite last nite. Killed 3 gar just under 6', 20 reds, bout 15 sheephead, and a few black drum and catfish. Weather was great for us last nite finally. We killed a bunch of 6 footish gar up to 6'7" this week.. Its ridiculous how good the bowfishing is and how many gator gar you see."

That is some fantastic bow fishing, what a vacation. Now I understand how you supply all of the fish for a fish fry up at lake Erie.
Congratulations on such a successful trip
If you have your lake Erie trip next year I will have to load up the boat and come on up.

Thanks for sharing
