Freshened up some mineral licks. Big & J granules and a bit of Lucky Buck. Threw a little corn left over from the feeders on top.

IMG_1247.jpgIMG_1248.jpgIMG_1249.jpgIMG_1250.jpg I put out the grape cool-aid, salt, and mineral block finally. I plan to compare this to a plain TSC mineral block that I have had out for two months. Looking forward to seeing the results. I included some pictures of the adventure getting to the spot.

Hanging stands now? Early or no?
I'll have everything ready to roll on Saturday, hanging stands, millennium brackets, and clearing lanes. That way I can stay out until the next cam check at the end of July. I have a couple cameras on field edges now so I can check those weekly on the ranger with no disturbance.

Oh okay I see that's smart. I would hang em up early too if I felt confident in my spots I picked 😂

Didn't you scout the whole time you were wrangling yotes?

Brian and I took a look-see when he came and helped me and he pointed out a few spots. Hopefully there are a few surprises. Just hard to find an entry exit without bumping deer. I only plan on hunting two bucks that I know of from last year and don't know their routes very well. Hopefully there are a few surprises.

He took me by your grandpa's place last Sunday.

Haven't checked a camera since March or maybe early April. Haven't touched minerals. Haven't thought about hanging stands. BUT. . .I did look at some deer in the fields at 45mph as I drove home tonight. lol

I put out four trace mineral blocks in four locations across the farm, along with a camera at each. Two are established sites, two are new. I don't plan on checking these cameras until August, as they all have fresh batteries. I also lowered the resolution of the cams, and upped my SD cards to 16gb, so I should be good for a while. I've got a different mindset for this new farm, and I'm hoping it will pay off in the long run.

What's your new plan, Greg?

Spend less time out there during the off season.

Since the deer's patterns will change from summer to fall, I don't plan on bouncing cameras around and trying to find deer. The mineral sites are spread out across the farm, so if the deer are around, I will get pics. All im doing now is watching them grow. Checking cameras more during the off season will only hurt me.

Right now, I'm still learning this farm, so less impact means the deer will be more comfortable and hopefully stick around. I know that the farm holds a boatload of does, so I know the bucks will be around come the end of October. No point in boogering it up now!
