Wife was stuck inside because of the heat. She didn't grow up poor so she made homemade jalapeño cheese bread and stuffed a cabbage. I'm sure my electric meter is ready for a break

Colorful plate last night. Last piece of backstrap from my son’s deer, with baked sweet potato and carrots. We also had fresh baked blueberry pie for dessert.

I had a couple of awesome meals last week in Ocean Isle NC. If you're ever in the area, Wing & Fish and Smoke'd, both in Shallotte, were AMAZING. I'd highly recommend both. I had my first low country boil at Smoke'd. Clams, shrimp, smoked sausage, taters, and corn "ribs."

I usually do spicier wings, but "smoky bacon glazed" sounded too good to pass up. Best wings I have ever had. I had sweet potato fries with cinnamon butter with them.

The pizza at Maria's in Ocean Isle was also excellent.

Spilt Milk has one helluva selection of donuts. Of course, our kid only wanted glazed...

A taco joint called Chunky Salsa had some killer shrimp tacos.

And you can't not have ice cream at the beach.

Fresh sausage, fresh eggs, biscuits and gravy made with fresh buttermilk. All from our place "Triple L Farms" in Pocataligo, GA. That's about as fresh as it gets!
