IMG_20141111_173207.jpgFixing baked steak with mushroom and onions out of back straps from last weeks buck with mashed taters and I'm thinking corn bread and some canned green bean out of the garden. It doesn't get any better then that.

Three hours ago, this heart was pumping blood through a living, breathing doe. Now it is freshly sautéed in butter with onions and garlic. Served next to some zucchini and squash. Washing it all down in one of my favorite beers.

It was good. Texture is odd at first and it has that metallic taste you would expect from organ meat. Overall, it was a decent meal. I can do better and won't be leaving the heart in the gut pile any more. Got a few ideas on how to cook the next one!

I'll have to save my next one! That looks good. Be over in 35 min!

Not dinner, but, a couple of weeks ago I went to Maumee Bay Brewing. Best thing that's ever come out of Toledo. Their food was damn good (I've never passed on a woodfired pizza in my life) and their beer was excellent. If you can find it in a yuppy mart near you, their Blizen Beer is real good. Their Buckeye Beer was a good lager as well.
