Oldest boy is finally of age to be out of Cloverbuds and picked his 3 projects this AM. First 4H mtg. is tonight and he was able to recruit 2 buddies to join this year. No animals, 3 still projects, makes me a happy man lol:
1. Rockets Away
2. Grow Your Own Vegetables
3. Beginning Fishing
Good stuff brother! K has 4-H tonight and we're already talking about projects. Tracie placed at state a few times with sewing projects and both her aunts won multiple reserve/grand championships with chickens and cattle, so the pressure is on
She can show cows next fall, so I expect to see cows at Shoestring Acres again next year.
I dodged a bullet, I didn't want to have to rush to put in infrastructure for animals this year. Agreement that if he wants to take hogs with his cousins he has to drop a still project and they are staying at the main farm with the others and he better clear his schedule each morning and afternoon for a 20min drive for chores lol. Thankfully no animals this year
Showing animals is how I met my wife at 14 at our fair and Kelley's Island 4H camp memories from each summer, ages 9-17, occupy a lot of head space.
Looking forward to the rocket building, gardening and fishing trips ahead.
Pretty great to see active 4H members on here. I grew up doing 4H doing all kinds of projects and only rabbits for livestock. When we looked into it for our kids it was very very limited and nothing spurred interest in them.
