Whelp, I tried something different that I saw on YT and after watching many video’s and different techniques I went into action building 2 half barrel enclosed bourbon cabinets. I’m learning and building more confidence using what tools I have at my disposal. Lol
These carpenters on YT with shops, and an array of an awesome set of tools(Spicoli voice) probably put out a much neater product. This particular WT barrel had an amazing bourbon stain on the outside on one side that caught my eye. The trickiest part of this project is dealing with all of the odd and different cutting angles inside, splitting the barrel in the exact center while hitting stave edges on both sides and barrel pressure release after cutting. My shoulders were spent after drilling and pumping 330 3/8/1/4” rivets around this entire barrel to secure rings and prevent barrel expansion. Overkill? Probably but I didn’t want any probs after separation.
Here are some pics of project in early going to the end. It’s not totally done but they are inside holding some juice.
