Who's been out scouting

image.jpg
Layla and I watched this Tom and ten of his girlfiriends out in a field this morning on our way to school. Actually watched him breed one. Hope they continue the same pattern come next Saturday morning.

Went out this morning for a little scouting/hog hunting and saw 3 large toms on the way home in the middle of a field... One had a beard almost too the ground....

Youth season looks good as well I have 2 day hunt planed for my boy on public land ....we're headed there tomorrow to do a little scouting

Sure feels odd being a week before the season , and its 24 degrees with snow on the ground . Birds gobbled good at one spot ...Dead silent elsewhere ...And I know there were birds at the other spots . My turkey partner Carl heard birds gobble a couple times at his honey hole , and that was it . Been 5 longbeards there . As of now that's our opening day spot . We'll see tho

Lots of gobbling on the roost and just after flydown, then quiet. Around 8:45 I took a blind up on the hill to put up for Carissa. When I got to the spot, the next point over exploded with gobbling. At least 3 toms and a group of jakes along with hens. I dropped the blind and backed out.

Heard 4 at one spot and 2 at another...3 Jakes in a field and 3 different hens by them selves...should be a good youth weekend my boy says we're hitting up the spot with the 4 gobblers lol

Listened at a couple spots before work . Birds gobbled good at both places . Amazing what a morning without snow or rain does for their moods

We listened to our one spot that last week held 4 birds. We thought a tom and 3 jakes. Not a peep. They've busted up and moved, which we expected as they do that every year. The good news is we pretty much know where they go. Seems like despite the cold snap and snow everything is right on schedule.

I'm going out Saturday and Sunday mornings to listen. Probably try and roost Sunday evening. I haven't seen my local struter in a week now. Hoping the warm temps bring him back.

Saw some strutters out in a new spot and managed to track down the landowners. After Bsing I managed to get permission . Walked thru the area I saw them strutting after work and it looked really good . Hidden pasture on the ridge top bordering mature pines and oaks .

heard 2 at the house this morning. dad said he was seeing them at his house last week but hasnt sen them the past few days seems like his place is always loaded right before season then they end up somewhere else i havent figured them out yet out there.

We'll see . Trying to kill birds in a couple new counties this yr . Killed birds in 12 counties and trying to add a couple more

Birds were fired up today . There were 6 birds on the new property , a mix of Jakes and longbeards most likely . As well as a couple longbeards across the state route on the neighbors .
Listened one other spot that had zero .
Drove by the pasture at 745 and could see a couple strutters way back in .
Swung by another spot and there was a whole dang flock out there . Probably 12-15 turkeys and 5 strutters .

Another beautiful morning . Waiting for the first gobble at a spot I got permission at a week ago but haven't listened at yet .
