8:30AM, Sat., Oct. 8, 2022: 'HARD FROST':

Mornin! First hard frost of the season here this morning.

Which calls for this,

20221008_082707.jpg

Russ is doing a 'Still Hunt' around here someplace this morning,

20221008_082514.jpg

because I was the one that didn't get my ass up this morning.

Oh-well, hope he kills another sometime today. Cornfields are being pulled this weekend, which typically stirs everything up around here regarding deer movement. Should be real good huntin over the next few days in my neck of the woods.

Have a great weekend 'TOO'zers!

6:30AM, Sunday, Oct. 9, 2022: 'RUSS'S FINAL HUNT':

Good morning all!

Today, Russ will be leaving shortly after lunch, and depending on how his morning hunts go, he just may return later in the week to attempt to tag out.
___________________________________________

Now, I will attempt to carpet-bomb all of you all with a bunch of photography with brief descriptions. All taken since my last post yesterday morning.

So, please bare with me because I'll be going through all of them as I do this hunt journal update, and while Russ is hunting currently. I just may have to stop in what I'm doing temporarily to go help him out should he get himself another deer this mornin. I'll also try to place all of them in consecutive order based on timestamp.

Please do not hesitate in asking for any further information regarding any of the photography or information that I'll be sharing in this update, thanks!
___________________________________________

Russ, from the tree-stand yesterday evening. During his morning recon, still hunt yesterday, he saw deer, but not in range. He mentioned that he saw plenty of deer signs of all kinds, but did not take any photos of them. I asked him going forward, to take pics of the more significant signs, because I have not been out yet in those areas, since last hunting season to be exact, and I'd like to gather as much deer intelligence that I can ahead of time, before I get out to hunt for myself later in the month.

signal-2022-10-08-17-19-14-000.jpg

After lunch, I broke out my coyote high power rifles, so Russ could send a few down range. All the rifle photography was taken after my brother left for his evening hunt, and he got totally skunked too.

Both rifle builds of mine have several modifications, customizations and/or upgrades for maximum precision capabilities and increased performance, and each have proven to be extremely accurate, always producing SUB-MRAD/MOA with most any kind of retail stocked manufactured ammunition purchased at most any kind of sporting goods store that may have the WIN .308 caliber available.

Video description:

2017 Savage Arms Axis SA Win .308 BA,
2020 Savage Arms MSR Competition HD Win .308/7.62x51mm NATO,

both are modified custom built hunting rifles that I performed, and each were built for extreme accuracy in mind, which I was able to accomplish successfully.

Precision long-range rifles that I built for extreme style type of hunts for mid to large sized wild game animals any where in the world where it would be legal to hunt with them. I coyote hunt with each of them, but separately during the winter months mainly, however each get used often throughout the entire year at the gun ranges.

I believe this catches me up with all of my brothers weekend getaway from hurricane 'IAN' devastation down in Port Charlotte, FL. and several other areas all throughout the state.

Hope you all enjoy my sharing Russ's Whitetail Deer outdoor adventure, and thanks for all the nice comments already!

I'll continue to update as soon as I can, and I know my brother has plans on doing a final write up of his time spent here with me, hunting for deer.

Have great Sunday everybody!

He's on the move. I told him to start 'still hunting' sometime around the 9 o'clock hour if he starts to get a little cold, so this is what he might be doing, or he actually let another bolt fly? I'll be sending a text shortly, then await for a reply.

5:00PM. Sunday, Oct. 9, 2022: 'A CHANGE OF TRAVEL PLANS':

Okay, starting to catch my breath around here now. I've been really busy today trying to catch up on chores, but yet having such a blast spending whatever time I can with my youngest brother, Russ.
_________________________________________

Russ's latest travel plans have changed. He'll be staying for at least another night, perhaps even more. He said earlier today, that he's in no big hurry to get back to his home in Florida. Things are still a mess throughout his community down there according to the locals that he's been in contact with as of yesterday. He told me that he's been thoroughly enjoying himself hunting, and hanging out with me at my place, which is wonderful!

He told me that he tried to stalk down a small group of antlerless deer during his still hunt this morning, and he got busted. Deer blew at him and then fled the area. Now he wants some redemption, which is perfectly fine by me. He's all jacked-up and has the plan of some kind of ambush for tomorrow morning. I'm just tickled that he decided to stay longer, which basically means that all the drinking and shenanigans will continue, lol!

He barrowed the car to go pickup his wife up in Toledo, and will be returning this evening.

Russ fully intends on hunting tomorrow, and I have no idea how long he wishes to stay, however, he can stay here as long he wishes. He's always more than welcome, anytime!

The latest photographs that were taken this afternoon today. Basically, it shows Russ returning from this morning's hunts; the cornfield that was pulled yesterday across the road from my property, and the feed-station nearest to camp that I just replenished with 100# of whole corn.

Perhaps more to come either later tonight or sometime tomorrow morning.

Have a wonderful evening everybody!

8:00AM, Monday, Oct. 10,2022: 'THE ADVENTURE CONTINUES'

Mornin. This post, and the following for today, will serve as a near 'LIVE' event, play-by-play' basically, of Russ's day of hunting here at my place and of the surrounding areas.

Russ returned late last evening with his tired wife, and they pretty much went straight to bed, just past 11:00PM. He was totally beat as well and needed his rest, and so did I, however I still ended up staying up later, until about 1:00AM because I got into the prepping business for deer camp, and also piddle around some too.

Last photo taken as I was going to bed.

20221010_004811.jpg

I woke up as I normally do and I felt real good this morning. Made some nice hot coffee, walked out to the workshop, but after taking a few snapshots of the morning sky, plus Russ's outfit. As you will see, more cloud cover today, which basically holds the warmer temps, and we had no frost as well, but still kinda chilly.

20221010_051727.jpg
20221010_051257.jpg

Anyhow,

Russ is doing another 'still hunt' this mornin. I gave him today's weather report, some hot coffee, then a little advice while he was getting dressed for the today's hunt or hunts in the nice warm workshop.

I told him where I would hunt today if I were to get out, and that's what he said he'll mostly likely be doing.

I'll be monitoring all the cell-cams closely today, along with having my cellphone handy. I believe he intends on hunting hard most of the day today just so he can rap things up hopefully, filling his last deer tag, and start heading home possibly tomorrow, but certainly after a grand finale dinner celebration, and huge bonfire night.

So, I'll be doing updates throughout the day of the more bigger events if they actually occur, and perhaps going all the way into tomorrow sometime, maybe. Like I mentioned before, Russ has every intension of sharing his time here with me in some document type fashion, but expected later when he has the time. I know that he will because he too is a thorough type of a guy, much like myself. I'm sure our upbringing had much to do with that and perhaps explains the phenomenon [?], IDK.

Again, hope some of you enjoy my sharing of all of this. I just wanted to make sure that I captured as much as possible, document as much as possible because our little get togethers throughout our lives have been far and few in between, however I also see that changing too in our near future, now that our kids are grown adults and out of the house.

More to come as I get notified of the more bigger or unusual events.

Have wonderful day folks, and stay tuned because Russ just might knock down another one today.

Now a small coyote @theotherfarm, and the deer activity has been rather slow at all TC locations of mine so far this morning. I imagine that might be because of the very bright moonlit nights lately and all the predators get to rule these areas during nighttime.

No word from Russ yet this morning neither so, I assume he's still at it.

That's a damn fine story bud. My brothers been dead for 10 years and I miss hunting with him every time.

As for Russ's buck - We always remember the first 🏹 whitetail. To get it with your brother, at your home - that's just awesome.

Congrats all around!

Our resident, and frequent feathered friend just showed up moments ago @thewesternstand.

Russ sent a text about an hour ago. The news was promising. Said he's putting a stalk on a group of big antlerless deer. No word since though. I'm preparing lunch. 'Surf-n-turf' of what we've harvested thus far over the past three weeks. More details later of the meal when served 😋

Florida Barracuda fillets
Ohio marinated venison steaks
Super sweet corn
Sweet baked potatoes
and tons of beer

Russ wants to kickback tonight, drink & relax, which is perfect music to my ears.

So, we're going to kick it this evening.

Anyone who wishes to stop by and have a few on me, then stop over, seriously! North edge of Ross Co.

Shoot me a PM and I'll provide directions & contact information if at all interested in joining the party.

Barracuda is quite an awesome fish to eat if prepared properly! Awesome guys! Wish I was closer, I’d swing by!

Honestly, can it get any easier than this [?] 🤔

Seriously though, Russ's wife will be up to bat this evening, and I do believe there's a strong possibility that she'll get her first ever Whitetail too.
