Work Boot Recommendations

I just got off the phone with Boot Country and they have ordered me another pair and I will switch them out next weekend. I absolutely hate shopping and the lady I dealt with yesterday was very helpful in everything I asked. The manager was the one that answered the phone this morning and was also very knowledgeable and helpful. Very pleasant experience so far, even with a faulty product. I get it, sometimes things happen. This was the Batavia location. She went as far as to offer other boots that were more expensive. I told her I was mostly interested in trying this product. She didn't push at all, just went ahead and placed the order.

I've been wearing the same work boot for over a decade now and never felt the need to change really. I get a new pair every year for Christmas from the family. In fact, I still have my last year's Christmas boots still in the box. I told them not to get me any this year so, well see what they end up getting me this year for Christmas.

I've used them for most any situation over the years, to hunt in, to fish with, lawncare work, wood work, for casual purposes, and at times, if the boot are still in decent shape, with my business dress attire.

They're comfortable and easy peasy to slip on in a hurry. Never have any of them failed on me over the years. The leather simply wears out depending on how much I abuse them over a year. I'm still wearing my last years boots on a regular basis, with last year's new ones in the wings, ready to go. They're a good boot and I'm more than satisfied with them.

I've worn many others in prior years such as; the 16" Redwing lineman boots when I was a electrician, a journeyman lineman doing highline high-voltage work, both underground & highline distribution work, climbing all kinds of utility poles with hooks & gaffs attached to them back in the day.

I do have some other boots laying around and they're still in pristine condition because I do not wear them hardly at all. I wear my Ariat boots nearly all the time nowadays.

Went to boot country store earlier today to pick up my new work boots.
For the last 18 years Of all the steel toe work boots I’ve bought Justin, Carolina, and Ariat. None of them satisfied me. All thumbs down. Last boots I bought was Ariat. It didn’t not last long and won’t buy again. So, i had been looking around online and seeing what’s out there. I came across with one that caught my eyes....Dan Post square steel toe boots. So I went got em. I’m going to give it a try and see how it goes. I will update it in couple weeks.

Kind of nice posting pictures on here and being able to reference dates. My slippers were doing fine until I tiled a bathroom floor. got 7 months out of them for 50 dollars.

@MoonLab @giles @bowhunter1023 how’s the fit of those Dan Post boots? I generally wear a 12 regular in Ariats and Timberlands. Does their steel toe give them a stupidly-large toe box?
@jagermeister My last boots Ariat was 12 D. When they asked me what sizes for Dan post boots... I was like 12D but get 11 1/2 just in case. Boy I’m glad I did. When I put the 12 D on it was a tab bit too big because of the large toe box. So I tried on the 11 1/2 it fit just right.

Great info! Thanks bud. I’m looking at these DP’s and also the Red Wing 3505 Pecos. I’ve always worn lace-ups at work and I think I’m ready for a change. I wear pull-ons everywhere else so it only makes sense. And I switch into rubber boots or waders pretty regularly at work too... the lace-ups are just extra hassle.

I’m in the market of looking for a new pair of steel toe square boots. Last I bought were Dan Post since January. Any other suggestion? Anyone bought any last few months?

ariat hiker has been probly the longest lived boot ive owned without the sole detaching. 3rd set of strings just slighting coming apart on the sides. the rubber on the bottom is getting like racing slicks. 1st pair of boots that i can say they held up well for over a year and they might get to next summer. Ill buy again. Sucks people dont like their slip ons.
