So Dannman is the only one to admit it?...Really.

I admit it. I have that little voice in the back of my head lol.

Winter time doesn't bother me either since I have the wood burner in the livingroom. Just need to restock my wood pile and get the chimney cleaned out to make sure I'm ready for another nasty winter that I feel we may have this year.

Oh I will admit I do the same. I have never understood what the big deal is. You just keep moving on. The lady that lives next to us was freaking the fugg out. She has never gone this long without.

I was thinking that I wished I was home and living it up with no power or helping those without. Hated being out of my element and on others turf with no fuel. But I would/do look forward to the simpler and challenging life of no power. Old West it up a bit...

I still don't have power and I just got done speaking with Paulding-Putnam electric and they said it's looking like 2 weeks! WTF! Goddamn windmills all over the place over here generating electricity and there is no way they can get power to the local homes? Are you kidding me? There aren't any power lines down within 5 miles of my place in any direction.

The storm was bad here and took out many steel buildings and 100 year old trees. I spent a lot of hours clearing roads for the county and setting up road closures for downed power lines. All day Saturday and Sunday was spent at home cleaning up debris and running the chain saw.

I have a 6500W generator going and it is running 2 chest freezers, 2 refrigerators, my well pump and some lights, fans and the TV at night.

The best part of all this is I fired up my central boiler wood furnace to get hot water for taking showers and doing dishes....There aren't many people that have hot water so my showers are getting used by a few extra people. The worst part is not having air conditioning.

I sent the wife and kids and mother in law to Toledo for a few days to stay in a hotel with a pool. They are heading back tonight.

We got power back on Saturday evening, so we were only out for a little over 24 hrs. I have to admit, I did kind of enjoy the time without power. Only thing I was worried about was my freezers. Once I got my small generator hooked up, I felt better. The best part about all this is that my crotchety, bitchin all the time, neighbor is still without power. I am sure he looks across the street and sees me with power and just starts fuming!! He is the type of guy that knows what everyone is doing, gets pissed when people dont landscape or fix their house up, and yells at all the kids for getting close to his lawn. They moved here from Louisiana, and I have been hoping they move back ever since!!!

Nice work Chad!!!

We are still without here as well. I spent two nights on the coach in the basement before it finally heated up down there and the last two nights have been spent on an air mattress in my office. The wife is coming back this evening, so I hope we have electric by then. As of last night at 11PM, there was electricity on less than 3/4 from my house. However I also heard that our power comes from a station in Barlow that was destroyed by the storm and that two weeks is also a possibility for us. I saved all the expensive stuff in the fridge and moved it to a spare here at work. My chest freezer is sitting in the entrance way of our office! :smiley_clap:

I'm not sure how many more nights I can take of not sleeping in my bed with the way my back has been acting up. It was a balmy 87 degrees in my house last night when I opened the windows at 10, and only cooled to 78 last night. With no air moving around, it is much hotter in the house. You can't even pinch a loaf without sweating like you stole something. Staying at work has been fine, but even that is taking a toll on me mentally. We have tomorrow off and I'd kill to have electric by this evening! A good nights sleep followed by a day of clean up at the house would make me feel like a new man!!! Not to mention I needed a hair cut and shave in a bad way on Friday, I look shittier than normal right now!!!

Tonight I'm headed to my buddy's place that got hammered to help him for a few hours. I have a lot of work to do yet, but mine pales in comparison to his. Thankfully he pays in beer!!!

!!!
Haha. That's exactly where my chest freezer is TOO! I actually brought the truck and trailer to work to haul it home. I took the 2nd half of the day off to finish cutting a large limb away from my garage. Then it's beer and poker for the rest of the night

I don't live TOO far from Jesse as the crow flys and we don't have any power yet either, the 3 1/2 and 4 hours of sleep a nite is making an old grumpy ass man outta me. This has got me in the mood to punch the next sumbitch that mentions that "he would like to live like the cowboys did back in the day" right in the mouth. I got 2 more 12 hours days to work and then Im on vacation for 18 days so that is about the only thing that keeps me going right now.

Sorry to hear you guys are still fighting through this one. Lack of electricity really sucks...

---

We had a dandy of a storm roll through southern Medina County early this afternoon. I was heading south for lunch when it busted loose. There was a textbook wall cloud, followed by a monsoon of rain to the west. As I came across 71 and got a good open view of the approaching storm, I watched a nasty funnel cloud drop from the sky right out in front of the rain. It dropped about 1/2 way to the ground and then became rain-wrapped. I lost it after that, but 20 minutes later I heard on the radio that a weather spotter confirmed the tornado. It was pretty bad ass.
