It's back.I feel for you guys who are still out.
No joke! We didn't get any of the severe whether here in NE OH. That said, I can relate as we were without power for 5 days when the reminants of huricane Ike came through years ago. Lost every piece of electronics in my house with the power surge on that one...

I feel for those of you still w/out power.Hang in there. You'll get through it. I had a few times in my life where we have been with-out utilities for over a week. 2 of my 3 times was due to winter ice storm or some lake effect storm. Its even harder to deal with if you have a wife and/or children living there TOO... But to those of you that have been through it... Looking back.
Come on. Admit it. Under those conditions, isn't there a voice in the back of you're head thats screaming " Ya! I'll build a fire in the fire place!... We can can survive the week until they get the power back on! Ya! This will be an adventure! It will be like camping but at home! " I always hear that voice. lol . . . Some times the voice will even go further and add " And I'll go kill us a deer if I have to if... if this goes on for weeks!
Must be a Guy Thing.

We are still without power at my house and a good bit of the gas stations around are out of gas. Water is shut off in some places as well. I lost another big chunk of tree in the latest storm, this time the top out of a red oak that will be tough to clean up. It nearly wiped out my 3D and bag targets. My house is sitting at about 87 degrees right now, with no relief in sight. My parents are also without power as we approach 72 hours at 6PM this evening. I blew up an air mattress and slept in my office last night. I'm running on 12 hours of sleep in 3 days thanks to sleeping on a couch for two nights, and the air mattress last night. I've lost 10 pounds since Friday from not eating as I normally would and working outside. Thankfully the wife made it out of town and is staying with a friend in Medina until things go back to normal here.
One thing is for sure, I will never not be prepared for this type of thing again...

Wow, that absolutely sucks! Wish I could help man. Hope tghat power comes back on soon. Have you been given a time frame for power being restored?
They initially said 5-7 days and I believe it will be 4 at least IMO. For a brief moment, it was on at the end of our road last night, but they lost it again in the latest storm. I should have been snapping some pics, but I've been TOO preoccupied. There are some areas of serious devastation around here. My one buddy that I helped Saturday, took a major beating to the point it looked like a bomb went off. He has weeks of clean up ahead...
I'm without power in Mt. Cory still. My roofs were torn apart pretty good off 2 of my 3 garages and the flashing gone. My stainless steel grill is mashed up, a light pole along or sidewalk snapped in half. I have a tree laying across the front corner of my 1st garage, damage unknown yet. I did get my freezer full of all my walleye and venison and trailered it here to the office. Might be til Saturday before we get power. In all, nobody got injured in my area, which is all that I was praying for during the storm

My patience and previously positive outlook is starting to fade...I just wish my kids didn't have to deal with any of this shit...
Guilty as charged.
I rode the storm out at work then drove home; wife had already made it home and said it was bad, real bad.
We lost power, so cut off the main supply breaker, turned off all the other breakers, then I fired up the generator and plugged the supply cord into the box on the side of the house. (Last time I had an electrician come in, I had them wire it so I could use my generator) Turned on lights, some outlets, fridge and freezer, and "whole house" fan. No cable, but we watched DVD's Fri nite. Power came back on about 1:30 in the morning and I was kinda sad.
During Ike when the power was out for a few days, I ran a string of Christmas lights on my porch, just 'cause I could. Guess I'm kind of a jerk. :redface:
My mom refused to come over on Friday night, thinking her power would come back on. I got her to come over Sat morning, and she stayed until late afternoon when one of her neighbors called to say that the power was back on. I really don't want my neighbors to be inconvenienced, but there is a little part of me that kind of enjoys exercising the generator and all the other guy toys (chainsaw, grill, etc) when something like this happens.

For me, it was a good reminder that I'm growing up and I have responsibilities that go above and beyond just blindly getting through each day. I need to be more proactive and less reactive now. I've always been an "on the fly" kind of guy, and I'm making it through this in that style. But with a bun in the oven, I need to rethink how I approach certain aspects of my life. This has been a very eye opening weekend for me...
For me, it was a good reminder that I'm growing up and I have responsibilities that go above and beyond just blindly getting through each day. I need to be more proactive and less reactive now. I think of myself as a "prepared" guy. But being out of my element (out of town) also made me rethink a couple things when I travel like taking a 10 gallon reserve with me. I may also switch to a diesel vehicle soon. All the gas stations I stopped at that had power were out of unleaded but had diesel. Better mileage also...

After this last weekend, I'm gonna have the wiring done as well Dan... makes it a lot easier without extension cords running all over the place.
Glad we only lost power for about 12 hours. I am completely unprepared. A generator will be my next big purchase. That was not a good feeling with a newborn at home.

Nothing here in NE Ohio to speak of. Just got a call about my camp. Two trees down, one on the pavilion and another across the cabin. Just damaged the gutters.
I'll be loading up the saw and make the trek down this weekend. I have some brush hogging to do as well. I'll make a weekend out of it.

Yeah, not having to run cords thru the windows is a big plus. Especially if it was gonna be cold outside.
I gotta do some studyin' on just how much I can run on my 3800watt generator.
I don't think I can run my house furnace/ac on it, but gotta really look into it....because a long-term outage during the winter could prove to be a problem if I can't.
Damned Al Gore changing up weather patterns....bastard...
I am going to upgrade mine. I have a 5000k Honda and going to go to a 7500 probably. I use them on occasion working also and needed bigger before.
