The Moon - What do we know?

Were they moving this evening? It was warm, but the moon was directly above at sunset. I kept drooling over the moon as I stood at flag football practice pissed off at the world.

Not sure, I bet the warm weather didn't help any. I thought this weekends weather was pretty prime though, especially Saturday night and Sunday morning. I saw 5 deer on Saturday and 4 on Sunday, which is more than I have seen all the rest of the weekends combined.

The moon is an incredible tool. I would guess lots of deer died (or could have) this weekend.

I still like Brock's statement: A front will trump the moon anyday. This weekend, I think the approaching front in my area had deer moving last night without a doubt. Bucks were stagnant, but the temps were very warm also.

Sunday morning's weather was awesome! We didn't hunt though, we were busy gathering up a dead deer from Saturday evening - where we sat through rain showers and rather breezy conditions...not what I consider ideal weather for deer movement.

A nice cold front definately accents a good moontime. Add them both together and it is deadly.

Agreed.... Sunday morning was damn-near perfect around here, too. I hope we get some nice cool mornings like that for the rut!

crappy full moon this weekend..sleep in and hunt mid day

Hunt mid-day if you'd like, but I'd bet the bank that the evenings of 26-28 will be awesome if we have decent weather. Moon rising at 15:53 on the 26th, 16:23/27th, 16:54/28th. If there is any chance of me getting out this weekend, it will be in the evenings! A few days into next week, I'll be heading out in the mornings and expect to see good movement!

so, this weekend (3rd-4th) look like
Rise Set
2111 1106
2207 1147

So if I'm reading you guys right, the evening sits should be slow, but there's a good chance for midday stroll activity? (between 10-2 Sat and 11-1 Sun)?
Am I reading this right?

This time of year, it can happen at any time. Lots of people in the woods that could bump one out of his bed etc. Anytime he is on his feet, he is vulnerable. But yes, with the late setting moon, mornings would be my choice if I could only hunt one time a day. I still say the 13th of November will be awesome given stable weather.

The moon is supposed to be directly overhead at 6:44 tomorrow morning. If they like feeding with the moon overhead that means it should be a good morning.

Looking at the forecast for Tuesday, the 13th. If there was ever a day to be in the woods all day, I still say it Tuesday! I don't think I will be able to hunt the morning due to my bride having a doctor's appt. However, I will be out Tuesday evening I think...if she is able to work the shop for me. The deer in my area have cut way back on their daytime movement this week even before the warm front came through. It is about to pop, I think. Cold, clear, and with the moon cresting the horizon at the same time as the sun...yeah, they gonna hit the dirt on Tuesday. If you still have a tag, GO!
