Well, I found out what spooked him. We did! We had 4 doe come in from the same direction and blow at us. It was directly downwind and we did not get smoked up very well. The wind was blowing hard when we were getting changed and the smoke just did not cover us. Chalk one up to mother nature.

We did, however, have a pile of deer in the field tonight but nothing in bow range. There were two young 8 pointers and a large group of doe to kick back and watch. Klay seemed to enjoy the show.

All freshly smoked up with a E breeze very light though and locked and loaded in the stand I put up yesterday. Anyone else hunting?
I stayed up and will hunt till I'm tired and go to bed later this morning.

Good luck! I'm posted up in my weekday stand. Conveniently located near a coffee pot and computer monitors :( man it was so nice out this morning. Wish I could be out there.

Good luck Ric. I am out. One raccoon. One buck so far. Under 20yds. No shot. Too dark to determine if shooter or not while in woods. Brush blocked view of tines while rubbing on several trees less than 20yds from me. He just needed to be 10yds north and he was in a shooting lane. I could tell he was wider than ears and decent main beams with mass I would expect of a 2.5-3.5 around here. Exciting since I am hunting on instinct today. No cameras over here since spring to early summer.

Saw a yote come along a standing beanfield at 7:45 off to the N at 45 yards. He wasn't standing still for a shot....fugger!

No deer yet.

Awesome stuff Phil! Good luck to you TOO! I'm watching 5 grays tearing up these oaks on this flat. The slight breeze is mostly in my face which is perfect for this set. The temp is perfect TOO. Didn't sweat on my way in and very comfy so far.

Seeing that big yote doesn't raise my confidence any for seeing deer this morning though....:smiley_depressive:

Yep. These fox squirrels are frisky this morning. Had a bluejay all sorts of grouchy earlier. Got my attention from 75-100yds away. Grumpy thing.

Doe with set of fawns 142yds out in beans. Momma wants to go south. Fawns are heading my way. Momma changed course. Not sure if I want to mess with a doe given the chance or not. Schedule is busy but the freezer is very low on deer burger.

I was gonna go out this am. I even told Don so last night. Then I get TOO thinking about what I'll have to do afterwards if I did get a deer, the gas I have to use to get the deer to the processer when the truck is full & itching to go to Strouds, then I remember the chicken I have to throw in the smoker this morning. The deer will have to wait. So beautiful out. I'm kicking myself anyways when I get a pic sent to me of some does walking past my ground blinds.

Thanks for all the good luck wishes fellers but as beautiful as this morning was my 3 hour hunt till 10:10 this morning left me without seeing a deer. Here are a couple pics though.

Pic off to the east around 8:00 this morning

Some nice red oak acorns right under my stand. This nice flat is covered with them!

I lefty steps in the tree but pulled my stand so's I can bring it to Strouds in case I need it.
