The TOO Live Hunt and Recap Thread: 2013 Edition

First sit of the year for me. I'm hunting an oak flat with few acorns off the edge of a bean field. As I type this, I have a few hens carrying on to the NE. Don't know what to expect, but it's good to be in a stand.

If everything works out this afternoon, I'm gonna head back out and set on the edge of another dried bean field. It's obvious there is a low acorn crop this year because the deer are hammering the beans right now. The last three nights I have watched deer in the beans at dusk. Last night, I watched a 120's eight feed out into the beans with 20 minutes of shooting light left.

It's a good day to be alive!

I didn't get into the stand until 6:30 this morning which is late for me. Wind is ain my face, smoked up and half asleep at 6:45 when something starts blowing up wind. Ugh... Oh well, going to sit it out. Nice to have a bit of a chill in the air.

It was quite the cluster getting to the stand. Ditches that are usually an inch deep were up to my knee in places. Had to take the LONG way around.

Not a thing. Still a beautiful morning. Squirrels were everywhere, and the turkeys were there all morning.

Got a stand up for this evening. Looks like it's gonna be warmer than anticipated, so we will see what happens.

Passed on a 1.5 yo buck around at 8:07 am. That was the only deer this morning. Under dressed and froze my behind off!! I'm still cold.

Bigweff and I are on stand again. On the way in we saw a doe and a fawn, then 3 long beards stepped out as we were climbing up the stand. The wind is pretty hard right now. Hopefully it'll slow down a touch. Goodluck to all!

I was going to my best stand tonight, but plans got changed. I needed to stay home with my son. I asked if he wanted to go hunting. He said yep for squirrel. Lol so here we are

Sitting in my office at home, noticed some movement across the street. Took this pic they where 60 yds away. There was a total of 3.



When I originally saw the first one was 20 yds off the road.

Just got home. Seen 8 deer from the stand this evening TOO bad they all stayed across the field and didn't get close enough for a shot.
