Had a doe get behind me and busted me moving my head...Thought she had crossed the creek. At least I didn't get skunked....

Thought I was going to get skunked tonight but had 2 does come in the last 15min. They hung right at 33yds but no "good" shots. Just a bit too many limbs in the way. Had a third come thru on the edge of legal light. Clear shot but she was moving pretty good. Not sure why. Hung out a bit to let her move on and see if a buck was following. Never saw one.

After the chainsaws ran me out around 10:00 this morning, (different property from last night, same story, dropping trees) I decided to Head south and poke around delaware for a bit, The only spots I knew of to sit were already taken. I looked for another but without a groundblind, there wasn't much to choose from.
Said "screw the chainsaws" And headed back to where I was this morning. The guys with the saws were gone, but there must have been a war on all the neighboring properties with all the gun fire all around me, Big stuff too, sounded like a .308 just south of me, and more tannerite across the road. I was just fixin to get down at about 5:15 figuring I wasn't going to see anything with the shooting gallery all around me when I heard a twig snap...

A doe walking the trail I was sitting on. I was about to shoot her when I remembered this was November and there's this thing I keep hearing about called a "rut" or something like that. I looked back up the trail and saw another deer...a bigger one...grunting...

Same little fork horn from this morning, following the same doe, coming back on the same trail they were on this morning. I figure she must be getting close to cycle and was hoping a bigger buck might be following, but not tonight. That little fugger got a free pass from me twice in one day. I hope the deer gods appreciate my restraint. he might not get a third chance.

At least I didn't get skunked

Karissa and I had a very good sit today! I'm quite proud of her perseverance and patience. She sat with me in the tree from 10-dark today. Our total seen today was 10 deer with 3 being bucks and all were within 35 yards. The nicest one,a 115-120" 8 which I gave her the green light to shoot, was heading right for a 18 yard broadside chip shot but sensed something wasn't right and locked up 10 yards from the lane. He stood there for 1.5 to 2 minutes and turned around and just slowly walked away. We think he may have saw us moving but not sure.

All in all we really enjoyed the day and are both pretty beat after eating a nice supper my wife had waiting for us when we got home. I must say we were both hungry cuz all we had for breakfast was two pieces of toast and for a snack a small two bite trick or treat snickers bar. Lmao

We won't be able to hunt again till next Friday! Dang it!:-(
