I have hit a plateau of around 28-33 pounds lost (water difference I am sure). It is definantely frustrating. I need to shake it up but can't really change the diet TOO much...can't really workout much more (4 days a week)...hmm.

Maybe you need to reduce your caloric intake? I've been reading that this can cause plateaus as when you lose weight you require less calories. Just a thought... Check out this calorie calculator: http://scoobysworkshop.com/caloriecalculator.htm

Been, I haven't followed much of what your workout consists of, but I know every time I would plateau I would switch from concentrating 2 muscles groups a day, and switch to a full body workout, with lots of lighter weight reps and hardly any break in between sets.

It was just something about all those different muscles burning/healing at the same time that would really kick up the metabolism again. I would usually rotate a week or two of that in every month.

Since I can only workout 4 days a week I do a full body anyway. My calorie count is pretty low right now as it is (around 1500 a day). This will pass but it is just frustrating.

My general workout:

10 minute warm up on the eliptical at level 10 (right at a mile)

3 x 10 with a burnout set on the last one

Curls
Tricep extensions
Flies
Leg press
Leg Curl
Shrugs
Incline press
Decline press
Peck Deck
Leg extension
Pull ups till burn out
Dips until burn out
Lat machine
Ab exercise where you pull across your body x 10 both directions

I finish with 20-30 minutes on either the eliptical on 10 (2.85 miles usually) or the treadmill (2.5 miles). On Tuesdays (one of my off days) I play open gym for 2 hours. We don't sit out at all so it is a good cardio workout. Three days a week I do bench/squat. The other day I do dead/clean lifts.

Week 1 - 3x3
Week 2 - 5x5
Week 3 - 10-8-6
Week 4 - 5-4-3-2-1

Repeat

I've hit the same level with my weight loss it seems. I've been hovering around 214-216 for 10 days now. Part of the issue are my weekend eating habits which are not as bad as they used to, but still not overly condusive to weight loss. I knew this would happen, it just sucks to see it become reality. I'm hoping the extra daylight after work will help me get outside and do some things that will keep the metabolism rolling. I have a few other things up my sleeve as well. I'd love to see 210 by my alumni tourney in 4 weeks...

Seeing 213.5 was a unexpected tonight. That puts me down 21.5 since I started. I'm hoping the increased activity that comes with more daylight will help out as well. I actually weigh less now than when I graduated college.

YOUR GONNA LOOK LIKE ZACK IF YOU KEEP IT UP...lol

rotflmao .... wonder if he has the dance moves as well? :pickle:

Started watching my diet toward the end of last week and hit the tread mill a couple times since then, i'm down 3 lbs so far since Wednesday of last week. Looking to shed about 10-15.. maybe 20 before we open our pool this May!

Will probably start full fledged workouts next week... but with March Madness upon us, I can see a lot of BBQ'n and Busch Light drinkin... which makes it tough to stay on track!!

It's been 2 1/2 months since this thread was started. For those who started working out then, or had been working out longer, we should now have formed life long habits. Congratulations to all that have stuck with it so long or to those who are just now getting in it. I'm proud of everyone especially with the changes we have made to better our lives.

As I mentioned before I gained 10 lbs on vacation - I made good food choices, so I'm blaming it on the beer. I'm now just 3 lbs heavier than my pre vacation weight. I should be at my pre vacation weight by Monday. I finally started lifting weights last night with my good friend and former MMA fighter. He obviously knows a lot about adding muscle, so I'm hoping I can absorb some of his knowledge.

Also, my next goal is to be able to go t-shirtless by the end of next month as we are taking my oldest son to a water park for his birthday and I'd really rather not feel obliged to wear a shirt. It's going to be a tough goal to make, but I'm going to give it my best.

Keep at it JJ, you're doing awesome. I'm only down about 10 lbs. since New Years Day. Hoping to lose about another 5 and then just maintain. My cardio is much improved and I'm really looking forward to getting off the treadmill and running outside.

It has been hard for me to be consistent, but something that I've noticed is that there's been a change in my appetite lately and I'm eating less. Probably a good thing. This week is a good week though, as I biked 3.5 miles on Monday night and ran a mile; and then lifted last night. I'll take today off and hit it again on Thursday.

I did legs and abs last night then came home and ran the two mile hilly road loop around the house. Even though my legs weren't fresh I managed to take 2minutes, 15seconds off from my last time. I was pretty excited about that.

Nice work John, Scott and others!

I'm taking a few days off to rest my shoulder. From the sounds of things, I might have had a partial tear when I feel back in gun season and landed on my elbow, jamming my shoulder straight up. It didn't heal right, so I'm still having issues. I'm gaining muscle mass in the gym, but the pain is not getting any better. That lead me to head to the doctor because I knew it was deep in my shoulder. I can tell the glucosemine supplements are helping, but it's not been enough to alter the pain status to my liking. I fell again yesterday coming down an 8' rock ledge while walking pipelines and aggrivated the injury. I'm going to pass on workouts for at least a week. Hopefully, I don't pick up much weight and the doc can help me heal this thing up in a timely manner. Thank God it's my left shoulder, so baseball and shooting bows is still online!!!

I have a severe case of DOMS in my upper legs. My walk, especially after sitting/sleeping, has turned into an exaggerated shuffle. I can also feel it in my abs. *sigh*

I ran 3.41 miles yesterday. This is the furthest I ran without stopping. I was pretty happy with my time of 43:36, averaging 12:46/mile. My first road run just last week was 2.07 miles and it took me 30:30 to complete, averaging 14:40. I've made some decent improvement since the first road run and am happy with my progress.
