How I found TOO

I think I found it when I was searching for things about the rut. Lurked around and finally decided to join. One thing I never did was introduce myself. I just kinda joined in on threads and never got ran off so I'm still here.

Like many on here I started at the other site, on or around August 2010 I started noticing a lack of people I normally saw as the regulars of that site.

The members who left took with them a lot of knowledge as well as incites on life in general as well as their sense of humor which I really missed. I had never met any of these guys up to that point but felt I’d known them for a long while.
Found out later on around October that they had left and started this site. I logged on and never logged off... I met countless numbers of members on this site and haven’t regretted meeting them once. Great group of guys across this state as well as other states like Fletch, who I’ve met while he traveled through Ohio on his way to Illinois.

My wife used to tell my kids that dads going to get murdered by one of these crazies he meets on the Internet [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] so far I’ve proved her wrong [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Between the outings and just meeting up to hunt or share a meal or just dropping by too BS this place is just awesome.

This site was made in the way to replicate a campfire, and like sitting around a campfire the conversations range in a number of ways and you can tell just by reading on here on a daily basis wether it’s during a specific hunting season or the off season the conversation swings are boundless.

Another great thing is you can bust someone’s balls that you’ve known for a while and even though you may have never met they understand that it’s just that and not get butthurt about it.

Joe and Jesse had an idea, stepped out on that ledge and did what they felt needing done and I for one will be forever great full for it. Whether I was on the road here in the states or deployed to some other country the one thing I always had (if I had an Internet connection) was a place to go to forget it all and reconnect with some normalcy (yes I consider this place normal[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]) it got me thru some rough times and some very boring times.

This place is home for me and I’ve gotten way more out of it that I’ve ever put into it. And for that I’ll be forever grateful....

When the founding fathers step in an say some bullshit about this place being nothing without all of us...I personally don’t want to hear it. I want to hear about what started this for them. Because we obviously backed them and thank them for it! It was those two guys that took that first step and made it happen. We simply followed and did what we do best. It's the truth though. Without you guys this place would be a dead wasteland. Its not the cabin that makes a deer camp special, the cabin is just a shelter, its the people that show up to deer camp that make it what it is. When Jesse and I decided to make a go at it we decided to build a cabin and invite our friends. We wanted a place that was a virtual deer camp where we could sit around and share stories of hunting, life, and stay connected. Over the years these friends have brought friends, strangers have show up and become family, and i have witnessed some of the most selfless acts of friendship i have ever seen in my life.

Back then we made you guys some promises. We will never cram adds down your throat for a profit, what you see is just enough to pay the bills. We will never sell out to a sponsor or pimp a product we can't personally stand behind. And we will never sell out to some outdoor media advertisement conglomerate. We've been approached countless times by sponsors, each and every time i tell them two things. 1. You don't get to make demands, TOO is what it is and it will not change. 2. If you're product is junk expect to be told so. As you can imagine this has led to some colorful exchanges over time.

Like many others I also started out on another site. As I noticed a lot of posters disappearing I pmd someone and asked where everyone went. They pointed me in the right direction. I lurked around for a while checking it out then knew I found a home.

I can honestly say that this place has done more for me and my family than I could ever repay. I will pay it forward though.

I was part of the #1 Ohio bowhunting forum of all times back in the day. Became a field staff member there and enforced the rules necessary to attract big businesses and their product sales for the owners. Got tired of having efforts fall on deaf ears, all the work it took to make those businesses happy, all the promises and all the censorship. When I came over I was likely looked at as the enemy to some due to all the hard feelings by many who left that other forum, some not voluntary. What I found here was the ability to not worry about the little things and let people do as they wish and be what they want to be. It was refreshing to get here and not have to worry about spam posts, proof reading every post for bad language, etc, etc, etc.. That was forever the end of my field staff dreams, if you want to call it that, and I haven't looked back since.

Fast forward about 7-8yrs and I was tired of online hunting forums, only keeping up on trucks forums. I was notified of this site, logged in, and logged back out after reading the same ol shit again. I forgot the name of the place but Jesse was quick to help a few months later and I have enjoyed the growing list of friends and the side-hurting laughs since!

The name Jackalope came about because I got banned from dumbassville. Well I tell you what, that just wasn't going to work. So i registered again and bounced off a couple of proxies and other countries to mask my original location. If you remember back in the day on America's Funniest Home Videos there was a skit called "The Jackalope". And this Jackalope would always run around saying " Fast as fast can be, you'll never catch me!"

I have been a member on a couple of PA hunting forums for a long time. When I saw the dream of having a camp in Ohio was coming to a reality, I googled Ohio hunting forums. This site along with a couple of others came up, but this one seemed to fit.

I actually like this forum more than the PA ones as the one forum talks more politics than hunting and the other one just doesn't seem to have the good discussions that it once did. Of course it seems that the age group on here is younger than those boards, so that may be part of it. I have known some of the people on those other boards for a long time, so I still frequent them as well.

Cspot.... Pa hunting sites???. I was on both...HuntingPa.com and PFSC.... I organized two big striper trips on HuntingPa, that because of certain members developed into a clusterf*&^... Shortly after that I went over to Brads site PFSC and found it boring... Funny one day I went on HuntingPa to find I got banned.... HUH, FOR WHAT???? Non-participation???? Oh well their loss... My screen name on there was 35Whelan.....
