Independent Contractor/Consultant & Business Owner of a Technical Company since 2,000.
DataVision Consulting, LLC
For the last ten years I’ve traveled the entire country converting both private small & large cinema movie theaters, mid to large corporate cinema movie theaters such as the ‘The Majestic, AMC, Bowtie, ect, ect – from old
(70-100+) 35mm film projectors to new state of art 4k/Real 3D/Digital Movie Projectors, Digital Dolby HD Audio Theater Systems & any size projector screen installs. I’ve also done several installs for college campus universities, business executive board rooms, corporation meeting rooms and wealthy private home owners wishing to have high end quality audio/movie theater systems installed.
The Hollywood movie industry made a huge change that required all theater owners to convert from film to digital projectors for a slew of reasons and the conversions needed to be completed by a certain date back in 2013. The two biggest driving factors are increased revenues for Hollywood organizations/distributors and a more robust security protection for proprietary content/property.
I’ve converted most of the historical movie theaters up & down the entire east coast within major cities and small towns. Others throughout the entire country TOO. From coast to coast - border to border! I did two Sundance theaters for Mr. Redford - one in Texas and the other in downtown Hollywood, Sunset Blvd. I’ve done one in Ontario, Canada and one in the Bahamas. I’ve worked pretty much in every major city throughout our country. I can’t tell you how many miles I have under my belt, but know it’s a lot!
Anytime I’ve gone to a new town/city to do a conversion, I usually have been approached & interviewed by the local news reporters. At times it would consist of both TV & Newspaper. I have met some famous celebrities & movie directors along the way during some of those travels & installs.
I’ve done well capitalizing on the demand for theater digital conversion. My wife has traveled with me many, many times throughout. Sometimes to help, but mostly to go shopping and/or site seeing depending on where we were at during that time.
I’d often hired a couple of local laborers to help with the grunt work. So, I’ve employed many individuals across the country during those years.
I’m a network/electrical engineer by trade.
I have an associate degree in computer science & business management from Columbus DeVry University. I also have several other training accomplishments through other technical courses/schools. Most of my experience however, came from my military years and working for one of the largest Drug Research, Manufacturing & Pharmacy companies of the world for a little over 10 years as a 'Corporate Regional Technology Manager of Operations' early in my career. I also have done some local, state and federal
(military) government projects right after leaving corporate America. Additionally, I’ve done work for private companies as well.
In 2015, I helped move the east coast datacenter for MLB
(Major Baseball League) to Omaha, Nebraska.
When my boys were teenagers and old enough to work, I created another successful lawncare/tree snow removal service business for them, so they could put money into their pocket and appreciate the value of being your own boss. At that time, I employed 12 other individuals for approximately six years. I ended up selling that business back in late in 2014 with 75 clients shortly after my youngest went off to college.
Today, I mainly do consulting work, service calls, remote online support work or over the phone support, but occasionally I still must travel. Typically for any client that needs new hardware/software upgrades, hardware maintenance, audio tuning and/or hardware troubleshooting for any failures.
Below are a few photos of a few cinema theaters & projects that I’ve done along with an article that I could find that’s still available online. It’s a good article to read if you wish to get an idea what’s involved to some extent. Many of the others I believe have been purged or achieved somewhere since 90% have been converted before the end of 2013.

I hope to retire completely in about 10 years. I love staying busy. As my Old-Man would say back in the day, “It’s good for heart and soul”.
