Still entertaining the idea. Thinking I might be able to get by with a Toyota... What kind of mileage you guys getting with them? How big of a load have you hauled with them? I'm gonna load my camper and drag it across the scale at work one of these days. I'd guess that I'm around 10,000 lbs with a full load, including food/beer/firewood/bikes blah blah blah
I took on this job...So I was driving my wife’s car back and forth to work and was killing that truck. Damn thing ran for hours a day, just to the bus and back. So of coarse, it smoked a turbo...in front of a GMC dealer...right before Christmas. Christine sure is happy with that Christmas.Dave, if you woulda picked the Yota back in 2016, we wouldn't be having this conversation....
Edit - just looked back at the rest of this thread. Dude, u are on truck #3 in 3yrs! Pick one already lol! What lever happened to that white Dodge?
AgreedI can appreciate Ben's advice, Adam's advise, and the position you are in Dave. The advise to chillax a bit is the best advice I've read. You get your hotel pay. Nothing says you HAVE to act today.
So you are suggesting that I pay for a car and a room...that I’ll never own? I’ll find a way to pay my bills, I won’t pay someone else’s.Lease a Volt and stay in those comfy hotel rooms Dave. You can get out of both on a moments notice.
I'll be damned…6 months ago I started down this path of self destruction. 4 trans later and over $9,000 in total repairs, I'm done. I should get it back from the shop in a day or two and it will be getting all washed up this weekend and I will empty my shit from it. It'll be up on the sale block for $20,000. It's a hell of a buy for that kind of money, I'm just done with it and looking to pass the deal on to someone else. It ain't a bad truck, and should be built to go the distance for a long while now. Rust free
Wife is bitching and telling me I need a new one, a man can only take so much of that. This will be the truck I forever kick myself for selling. Dealer is has offered me $18,000 for it on trade in. I'd be taking a lot of goodies off for that price, so I'm just trying to pass the deal on.
2006' Dodge Mega Cab
3500
4x4
141,*** miles
fresh stage 3 trans
4 new rotors, calipers, pads
almost new tires
B&W turnover
basically an unmolested 5.9 cummins
bad title (stolen recover truck) some banks will still give a note on it because it wasn't totaled in a wreck
Hey hey hey you happy campers...I don’t come here for you to agree with me! Talk me outa this.
PERDM $125 a day, working 5-6 days a week.I did not know the background...$36k in annual living expense? I’d be driving a Prius and staying at the local homeless shelter and banking the rest. You wanted property? There you go. Bank it!
So if I keep everything I have now and just “bank” the money for another year. What are my gains and losses?
I don’t think I’d buy brand new in a truck, a year or two old.
Vs
Building the 03’ Duramax to be faster then the wife’s 6.2
Because if I put the money into it, I will not be outdrove by my ladies DD. That just isn’t an option here. Talk to me you Duramax fans. I’ve only built a Cummins.
I mentioned in another thread about 40% over injectors, some tunes and trans go jr. 138,000 miles
