Thats one of the ways i put it too the wife when talking about the RV. We could probably swing going to the beach once a year, or go camping quite a few times. Im not a beach person, she is. Its a compromise I guess.

Still entertaining the idea. Thinking I might be able to get by with a Toyota... What kind of mileage you guys getting with them? How big of a load have you hauled with them? I'm gonna load my camper and drag it across the scale at work one of these days. I'd guess that I'm around 10,000 lbs with a full load, including food/beer/firewood/bikes blah blah blah

Dave, if you woulda picked the Yota back in 2016, we wouldn't be having this conversation....

Edit - just looked back at the rest of this thread. Dude, u are on truck #3 in 3yrs! Pick one already lol! What lever happened to that white Dodge?

I can appreciate Ben's advice, Adam's advise, and the position you are in Dave. The advise to chillax a bit is the best advice I've read. You get your hotel pay. Nothing says you HAVE to act today.

I took on this job...So I was driving my wife’s car back and forth to work and was killing that truck. Damn thing ran for hours a day, just to the bus and back. So of coarse, it smoked a turbo...in front of a GMC dealer...right before Christmas. Christine sure is happy with that Christmas.

So we have the half ton white one, 2500 blue one, and I still drive her car to work 90% of the time.

“If” we end up with a new camper. I will be staying in it during the week. At that point, this car would likely get parked and HD would turn into a DD.

In short, life has changed a bunch the last 2 years. (Iseriously wish I still had that Mega.) Details can be shared around a campfire👍🏼. Much like Jon said, I just can’t leave things alone. 😂

Lease a Volt and stay in those comfy hotel rooms Dave. You can get out of both on a moments notice.
So you are suggesting that I pay for a car and a room...that I’ll never own? I’ll find a way to pay my bills, I won’t pay someone else’s.

I get paid $3,000 a month to live out of town. Surely I could find a better way to spend that money. Might even be able to get ahead on payments or put some to the side for when I’m not making that money.

Currently making a 1.5 hour commute to my folks house because I’m a cheap bastard. I was commuting 2 hours home on the last job. This might all seem like it just came about, but it really hasn’t. I’ve been stashing money in prep of this. That way, worst comes to worst, I can still get out from under things. Besides, they give these things away these days😂

Buy a new truck, at least 1 ton, get the 5th wheel and be done. Take care of both, stash the rest of that monthly pay. I'm thinking to the tune of $1500/month or so after truck, camper and insurance monthly payments.

You have reliability, comfort, freedom and some change in the pocket.

Now, drink a beer. Smile and think about how nice it will be when it's all squared away by months end. Get crackin, show season prices are about over!

I learned long ago flipping trucks is not a good investment! Gonna drive the wheels off my Tundra.
Don't get a mega camper, get one your current truck can pull. Not supposed to be in the camper much anyhow!
Then stash as much as you possibly can in tax advantaged retirement accounts. Check out early, live like a king, and spoil your grand-kids!

No, because it makes sense. You are having a truck identity crisis. Figure out what will make you happy along with take care of things in your lifestyle and move forward. With that kind of scratch each month dedicated to transportation and living, this shouldnt be an issue dude lol!

I'll be damned…6 months ago I started down this path of self destruction. 4 trans later and over $9,000 in total repairs, I'm done. I should get it back from the shop in a day or two and it will be getting all washed up this weekend and I will empty my shit from it. It'll be up on the sale block for $20,000. It's a hell of a buy for that kind of money, I'm just done with it and looking to pass the deal on to someone else. It ain't a bad truck, and should be built to go the distance for a long while now. Rust free

Wife is bitching and telling me I need a new one, a man can only take so much of that. This will be the truck I forever kick myself for selling. Dealer is has offered me $18,000 for it on trade in. I'd be taking a lot of goodies off for that price, so I'm just trying to pass the deal on.

2006' Dodge Mega Cab
3500
4x4
141,*** miles
fresh stage 3 trans
4 new rotors, calipers, pads
almost new tires
B&W turnover
basically an unmolested 5.9 cummins
bad title (stolen recover truck) some banks will still give a note on it because it wasn't totaled in a wreck

In case you need reminded. 2.5yrs ago you said you shouldnt sell it.

I did not know the background...$36k in annual living expense? I’d be driving a Prius and staying at the local homeless shelter and banking the rest. You wanted property? There you go. Bank it!

So if I keep everything I have now and just “bank” the money for another year. What are my gains and losses?

I don’t think I’d buy brand new in a truck, a year or two old.

Vs

Building the 03’ Duramax to be faster then the wife’s 6.2

Because if I put the money into it, I will not be outdrove by my ladies DD. That just isn’t an option here. Talk to me you Duramax fans. I’ve only built a Cummins.

I mentioned in another thread about 40% over injectors, some tunes and trans go jr. 138,000 miles
