I'll give them that much. Don't hear about the Dodge automatic transmission issues like you did in the 90's. Not sure if they fixed it or if I have tuned it out. My 2000 is a 5sp. My 2006 is a 6sp. Maybe in a few years I'll be able to afford a 2012 to add to the fleet. lol

Look up weight of F250/F350 Dave. I bet there is close to a ton of weight difference. Wheelbase is probably much longer on your company truck as well. All around different trucks. I'm definitely NOT sticking up for the Ford trucks either. The 6.0 was so-so. The 6.4 was a lemon. The 6.7 I don't trust because they struck out twice in a row. They carry a load nice. Tow nice. Look good. I'm not a Ford fanboy though.

I would guess because they have to maintain the large gap for classification purposes. If a Cummins ends up in all light duty trucks, what will separate RAM? When you stop and really think about it, engines have always been brand specific, never shared from what I can recall. Some of the older guys might be able to chime in, but I'm talking all the way back to the HP wars in the 60's.

Construction size equipment is a different market with different expectations.....to last, lol!

Adam they shared displacement but not the same motors. AMC had some 360’s and 390’s if I remember right. But they used a lot of other manufacturers stuff to save engineering costs I’d assume.

Focused and basically bought another camper today. Just gotta figure out details, but I’m gonna buy it either way. Cleared codes on the truck a few minutes ago, gonna drive it north in the morning and see what returns. Injectors need done, haze has started. Floored it for the first time today and was actually impressed with what it had. Still gonna go ahead and probably go oversized injectors and a tune. Trans go Jr to improve flow in the transmission. Fuel tank strap broke about a month ago...guessing I’ll do a fuel system while I have the bed off to fix that.

Suspension will get some bilstiens on the corners.

Interior has the normal dash issues, I’ll send it out to get repaired. I’ve got a door blend actuator on the fritz, it’ll get replaced while I have the dash apart. Multifunction switch (blinker) turns off my cruise when I signal left and sometimes sticks on. It’ll get replaced. Radio sucks as it crackles real bad. It’ll be replaced along with the speakers.

Gonna need tires here soon. Prolly get rims and tires. Also smoke the windows. Add my lights and maybe do some bumpers (these are showing rust). Ditch the chrome. Tow mirrors.

All in all, it’ll be an expensive go and I’ll still have a used truck. But, it’ll be a low miles LB7. I can’t touch a newer diesel with these miles for anything close to what I’ll have into this one.

My goal will be this look.

Injectors showed up Friday. Went with new (not remanufactured) Bosch stock injectors, new lines, new cups and new gaskets. I kept reading over and over about people having failures after 20,000-40,000 miles. So I just spent the money to get all new parts and be done with it. Beyond this, I’ll just fix things as they break. Not gonna build it, just gonna drive it. Save my money. I need a shop...

Picked my truck up last night. Runs like a top. Then a caliper stuck on me today. Angered me enough to take a look around...how does this even seem like a good idea?

Being that I’m about $18,000 into this old truck now. I know the right answer is to just replace the caliper. But it’s gonna need tires soon. I know...I know...still cheaper to keep her. But but but...it’s a 1 ton, single rear wheel, long box and already lifted! Hey dumbass, knock it off and turn it over to the TOO boys. Surely @5Cent has some sense and will smack me upside the head.

Yes, that was a real argument I just had with myself😂

You get that thing and actually use it and you're gonna be breaking shit with that lift. Trying to offload mine for the same reason.

But it sure does look cool. 😂

We already have a road princess, I have just what I need. If I was gonna loft something, I’d do a solid axle in this 03’ and have something I could use. Just working the bugs out of it from sitting the last couple years. It’ll be just fine.

Looks like they put too much lift on the front. Hook a camper up and you'll looking at the clouds through the windshield.

Just swapped mine out. Loved it, but did not love replacing a rack once a year. Out with the old. In with the new. Old was 2015 Silverado 1500 LT new is 2018 Silverado 1500 z71 LT. Some older couple traded it for a Kia, only 4k miles on it.
